Description
Amoeba by Ares Mutant AMM5 EFCS AEG (Tan, AM-M-001-DE)
The Mutant AMM5 is part of the Amoeba by Ares Mutant range, a family of modern, modular AR-style AEGs built around Ares’s electronic EFCS gearbox. This is the tan (dark earth) version, model AM-M-001-DE. The Mutant rifles combine a lightweight polymer upper and lower receiver with aluminium and metal parts where strength matters, giving a rifle that is easy to carry all day while still feeling solid in the hands.
What sets the Mutant series apart is its modular front end: the outer barrel assembly, together with the inner barrel and hop-up, can be swapped for a longer or shorter version, so one rifle can be set up for CQB one weekend and woodland the next. Add the programmable EFCS gearbox and compatibility with standard M4 magazines, and the AMM5 is a flexible, low-fuss choice for players who want a modern rifle they can adapt over time.
EFCS gearbox and performance
At the heart of the rifle is the Ares EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System) gearbox. Rather than relying on mechanical trigger contacts, the gearbox is managed electronically, giving a crisp trigger response and less wear on the electrical parts. Fire modes are full auto, semi-auto and safe, and the way the rifle fires can be changed using Ares’s electronic gearbox programmer.
A high-torque flat motor drives the gearbox, and a quick spring release system lets you change the main spring without opening the gearbox, which is handy if you play at sites with different power limits. The hop-up is adjustable, so you can set it to suit your chosen BB weight.
Modular design and handling
The Mutant’s front end can be swapped to change the rifle’s overall length and barrel set-up. By removing the retainer pin and two screws, the outer barrel assembly, with inner barrel and hop-up, comes away as a unit and can be replaced with an extended or compact version. The AMM5 measures 520 to 615mm, with the range reflecting its adjustable stock.
Ambidextrous magazine release paddles make reloads easy for left- and right-handed players, and the 14mm counter-clockwise (CCW) muzzle thread accepts most standard airsoft suppressors and flash hiders. With a weight of approx. 2,120g, it is light enough to carry comfortably through a long game day.

It runs on batteries from 7.4V to 11.1V; check the battery space in your configuration before buying a battery. The 14mm CCW thread accepts most airsoft suppressors, tracers and flash hiders. The EFCS gearbox has its own electronics, so check that any internal upgrade parts are compatible before buying them.
Care and maintenance
Remove the battery after every game and store LiPo packs in a fire-safe bag, charging only on a proper balance charger under supervision. Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and dry patch every few games, and use good-quality seamless BBs. Keep the front-end retainer pin and screws tight, and check them after swapping barrel assemblies. Store the rifle dry and leave gearbox servicing to someone familiar with Ares EFCS gearboxes.
Who is it for?
The Mutant AMM5 suits players who want a light, modern AR-style AEG with electronic trigger control and the freedom to change its length and set-up for different sites, from CQB to woodland.
Please note: Battery and charger are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check site power limits before play.
