Description
APS CAM870 Shell Ejecting Co2 Shotgun (Real Wood – CAM MKIII-M)
The APS CAM870 (CAM MKIII-M) is a pump-action airsoft shotgun based on the Remington M870, with real wood furniture and APS’s shell-ejecting CAM system. Each shell is charged with CO2 and loaded with BBs, and every time you work the pump the spent shell is thrown clear and a fresh one is fed from the tube, just like the real thing.
APS is well known for its CAM870 range, which remains one of the few genuinely shell-ejecting airsoft shotguns available. Pairing that system with real wood furniture gives this version a traditional look and feel, making it a favourite with players who want the most realistic shotgun experience in airsoft and with collectors who appreciate a distinctive replica.
How the CAM system works
Instead of filling the shotgun with gas, the CAM870 carries its power in the shells. Each MKIII shell is loaded with BBs and charged with CO2, then loaded into the tube under the barrel. Racking the pump chambers a shell; pulling the trigger fires its BBs; racking again ejects the empty shell and chambers the next.
Because every shell carries its own gas, performance is consistent from shot to shot, and the reloading routine is as close to a real pump shotgun as airsoft gets. Collecting your ejected shells after a game becomes part of the experience.
Build and feel
The real wood furniture gives the CAM870 a warm, classic appearance and a reassuring feel when you work the pump. It suits traditional shotgun impressions, hunting-style and police-style loadouts, and anyone who simply prefers wood to polymer.
Working the action is deliberate and satisfying, and the ejection of each shell adds a sense of theatre that no other shotgun type matches.
Getting started
Read the APS manual carefully before charging any shells. Load BBs into each shell, charge them with CO2 as the manual describes, and load them into the tube. Fire a few test shots at a safe backstop and get used to the rhythm of racking and ejecting.
Have the shotgun chronographed at your site before play, and carry plenty of charged shells, as each one is used for a single shot.
Key features
- Remington M870-based pump-action shotgun
- Genuine shell-ejecting CAM system
- CO2 charged into each shell
- Real wood furniture
- Realistic loading and ejection
- Consistent shot-to-shot performance
- Ideal for realism-focused players and collectors
Compatibility
Uses APS CAM870 MKIII shells, which are sold separately. Older or different-generation CAM shells, and shells from other shotgun systems, will not necessarily work, so check the shell type before ordering spares. Use clean, good quality 6mm BBs, and charge shells only as the APS manual describes.
Care and maintenance
Keep the shells clean and check their seals regularly; a drop of silicone oil on shell seals helps keep them gas-tight. Do not leave shells charged for long periods, and store them empty in a cool, dry place.
Wipe the wood dry if it gets wet and keep the shotgun away from direct heat. Give the metal parts a light coat of silicone oil occasionally, and pick up your ejected shells after each game so you do not lose them.
Who is it for?
Ideal for players who want a genuinely realistic, shell-ejecting pump-action shotgun with a traditional wood finish, for re-enactors, and for collectors of distinctive replicas.
Please note: Shells, CO2 and BBs are not listed as included; the shotgun needs APS CAM870 MKIII shells to operate. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check site rules before play.
