Description
APS Gear Set with Delay Plate (UAR Urban)
This is a gear set from APS, supplied with a delay plate, for the APS UAR Urban. The UAR is APS’s bullpup assault rifle, and like other bullpups its gearbox layout differs from a conventional M4, so the correct parts for the model are important.
If the gears in your UAR have stripped or worn, a factory gear set is the simplest way to restore reliable cycling.
What a gear set does
In an AEG the motor drives the bevel gear, which turns the spur gear and then the sector gear. The sector gear pulls the piston back and releases it to fire each shot. Worn or stripped teeth cause grinding, jams and incomplete cycles, which can damage other parts if left.
The delay plate
The gear set is supplied with a delay plate, a part used with the UAR gearbox. Fit it in the same position and orientation as the original. The gear ratio and the detailed role of the delay plate in the UAR are not stated in the listing.
Fitting
Fitting a gear set involves opening the gearbox and shimming the new gears so they mesh correctly and turn freely without play. Remove the battery first, take photos as you go and keep parts in order. Re-shimming is essential with any new gear set; if you are unsure, have a technician do it.
