The Ares Amoeba AM-008 is a modern M4-style airsoft electric rifle (AEG) from the Amoeba range by Ares. It combines nylon fibre receivers with a CNC-machined aluminium handguard, keeping weight down while giving a solid, modern feel. This UK version is finished in blue.
Ares is a Hong Kong manufacturer known for innovative internals, and its Amoeba range was developed to put those ideas into lightweight, affordable rifles with a distinctive modern look. Performance and internals
Ares’s EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System) replaces traditional mechanical trigger contacts with an electronic control unit built into the gearbox. It acts as a built-in MOSFET, gives a fast and crisp trigger response, and includes gearbox protection that cuts power if the mechanism locks up. A gear sensor stops the piston in the forward position after each shot, so the spring is not left under compression. With the optional Ares Electronic Gearbox Programmer, sold separately, you can change the fire mode set-up, including burst options.
Inside, a high-torque flat motor drives the gearbox, and a 6.03mm brass inner barrel with an adjustable hop-up provides consistent, accurate flight. A quick spring release system makes spring changes straightforward. The rifle runs on batteries from 7.4V to 11.1V and fires safe, semi and full auto as standard, with further options available through the programmer.
Build and handling
The upper and lower receivers are nylon fibre, a tough and light material that shrugs off knocks and does not dent, while the outer barrel is aluminium and the handguard is CNC-machined 6063 aluminium. The handguard carries two Picatinny rail sections and two hand stops, and a Picatinny top rail on the upper receiver provides space for optics. The extendable nylon fibre stock adjusts between approximately 670mm and 760mm overall length, and the whole rifle weighs around 2.3kg, light enough to carry comfortably all day.
The magazine holds 300 rounds and includes a simulated round at the top for added realism. With its light weight and balanced handling, the AM-008 is quick to point and easy to manoeuvre in close terrain.

Compatibility
Amoeba M4 rifles take Amoeba M4 magazines, and many standard M4-pattern AEG magazines will also fit, though fit can vary between brands, so try one before buying in quantity. The EFCS gearbox is an Ares design, so not all standard Version 2 internal parts will fit; please check compatibility before buying upgrades. EFCS is well suited to LiPo batteries; check the battery space and connector type before ordering a pack. Top rails are standard 20mm for optics.
Care and maintenance
Unplug the battery after every game and store it separately at the recommended storage charge. Use good quality seamless BBs, which protect the hop-up rubber and barrel and give more consistent flight. Clean the inner barrel periodically with a cleaning rod and a lightly dampened patch, then run a dry patch through. Wipe the rifle down after wet or muddy games and let it dry naturally before bagging it. Electronic gearboxes are best serviced by a technician familiar with Ares internals, so avoid opening the gearbox yourself unless you are confident.
