Ares Amoeba Tactical M4 AEG With Silencer (ARES-AM-005-DE – Blue)
The ARES Amoeba AM-005 is a compact tactical M4 carbine with a mock silencer, designed to be light, quick to handle and simple to run. This listing is the blue version of the rifle, a coloured finish that sets it apart from the usual black and tan.
It shares the Amoeba range’s electronic fire control (EFCS) with the larger AM-009, but in a shorter package of about 450mm to 680mm. That makes it a flexible rifle for both indoor and outdoor games, and a smart first AEG for anyone who wants a modern trigger system from the start.
Build and handling
The receivers and extendable stock are made from nylon fibre and the hand guard from CNC 6063 aluminium. At around 2.2kg it is easy to carry and quick to shoulder, and the shortest stock setting gives a very compact rifle for clearing buildings.
The aluminium hand guard carries two Picatinny rail sections and two hand stops, and the upper receiver has a top Picatinny rail for optics. The aluminium outer barrel carries a mock silencer, which gives the AM-005 its tactical look.
Performance and electronics
Inside, the cast zinc alloy gearbox is controlled by ARES’s EFCS, with a gear sensor, an electronic trigger and a gearbox protection system. There is a quick spring release, and a high-torque flat motor drives the rifle.
A 6.03mm brass inner barrel and adjustable hop-up give you control over range and accuracy, and the rifle is listed for 7.4V to 11.1V batteries. Out of the box the rifle fires on safe, semi and full-auto. ARES sell a separate Electronic Gearbox Programmer that plugs into the EFCS and lets you change the fire-mode sequence, for example adding a three-round burst. The programmer is not included with the rifle.
Getting started
Before your first game, charge your battery fully on a suitable charger, fit it and check the rifle fires on safe, semi and auto as expected. Set the hop-up from zero, adding a little at a time until the BB holds a straight, flat line, and then check where it lands at the distances you usually shoot.
Your site will chronograph the rifle before play. Spend a few minutes learning how to change the battery and clear a jam so you are not doing it for the first time mid-game.

Compatibility
This rifle takes ARES Amoeba magazines and should also accept many standard M4-pattern AEG magazines, although fit and feeding can vary between brands, so try a magazine before relying on it in a game. The Picatinny rails accept standard 20mm optics, lights, lasers and grips. The EFCS is listed for 7.4V to 11.1V batteries, and a LiPo battery gives the electronic trigger its crispest response; check the battery space on your rifle and choose a connector to match.
Care and maintenance
Unplug and remove the battery after use, store LiPos in a fire-safe bag, and charge them on a balance charger you are watching. Keep the inner barrel clean with a rod and patch, because a dirty barrel or hop-up rubber is the most common cause of poor grouping.
Use good quality, polished BBs and avoid reusing BBs picked up from the floor. Keep the rifle dry, check all external screws now and then, and leave internal servicing to someone who knows AEGs well.

The AM-005 is for players who want a short, light M4 with an electronic trigger for CQB and mixed sites, and for beginners who want a modern rifle that is easy to learn on. It also makes a handy backup rifle for players who usually run something larger.
