This is an Ares top cover with an integrated rail system for the L1A1, part code RS-009. Ares produces an L1A1 SLR replica, a rifle with a long history in British service, and this top cover lets owners add a rail on top of the receiver for optics and accessories.
The original L1A1 was not designed with a modern rail, so mounting a scope or dot sight can be awkward. A railed top cover is a neat solution: it replaces the standard cover and gives you a mounting surface right where you need it. Adding optics
