Description

Ares M45 Replacement Gearbox Casing Set (GB-505 & GB-506)

This is a replacement gearbox casing set for Ares M45 series AEGs, listed with the part codes GB-505 and GB-506. The casing is the shell that holds the gears, piston, cylinder and electrics in their correct positions, so a cracked or worn shell affects everything inside it.

Ares is a Hong Kong airsoft manufacturer known for its own designs and electronic gearboxes. Within the M45 series, the M45X-S is sold with Ares’ EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System) gearbox.

When to replace the casing

Gearbox shells can crack after long use with strong springs, a hard impact or a mechanical failure such as a broken piston or gear. Bushing or bearing seats can also wear oval over time, which upsets the gear alignment and leads to noise and further wear. Fitting a new casing set lets you rebuild the gearbox on a sound base.

We do not hold details of whether GB-505 and GB-506 refer to the left and right halves of the shell, or what small parts are included, so please check the product images, or contact us, before ordering.

Fitting

Rebuilding a gearbox into a new shell means transferring the gears, bearings, piston assembly, cylinder, electronics and wiring, then shimming the gears again for the new casing. Ares’ electronic gearboxes include sensors and a control board that need careful handling.

If you are not confident working on your replica, have the part fitted by an experienced technician.

  • For Ares M45 series AEGs
  • Part codes GB-505 and GB-506

Compatibility

Listed for Ares M45 series AEGs. Ares electronic gearboxes differ from standard Version 2 and Version 3 shells, so this casing should not be assumed to fit other models or makes. Please check the part codes in your replica’s manual or exploded diagram, or contact us, before ordering.

Care and maintenance

When rebuilding, clean all parts thoroughly, use a suitable gearbox grease sparingly on the gears and piston rack, and check the shimming before closing the shell. Test the replica with no BBs, listening for grinding or uneven noise, and have it chronographed before play.

Store the replica uncocked and with the battery disconnected.

Who is it for?

It suits Ares M45 owners and airsoft technicians who need to replace a cracked or worn gearbox shell during a repair or rebuild.

Please note: Internal parts, grease and tools are not included unless shown.

Airsoft replica or accessory only, as described. For help choosing compatible equipment, contact OnlyAirsoft.
