Ares M45X-S with EFCS Gearbox (Retractable Stock with Arm Stabilizing Brace – AR-086E) (Blue)
The ARES M45X-S is a compact, modern sub-machine gun style AEG built around ARES’s dedicated gearbox with integrated EFCS (Electronic Firing Control System). This AR-086E version is fitted with a retractable stock with an arm stabilising brace and is finished in blue.
The M45X-S platform is designed to be adaptable: the hand guard can be swapped without tools to change the barrel length, and different front sets can be fitted to change the look and handling. Combined with ARES’s electronic trigger, that makes it a flexible rifle that can be tailored for tight CQB or more open play.
EFCS electronics
The EFCS module replaces the conventional connector cube and controls the trigger electronically. It shortens the motor’s reaction time to a trigger pull, giving a sharp, responsive feel, and has a built-in MOSFET to protect the trigger contacts. ARES states that it helps extend the life of the mechanism and supports high-voltage batteries, including LiPo.
An external ARES EFCS programmer, sold separately, can be used to change the fire-mode sequence and add a three-round burst. The rifle is driven by an ARES slim motor inside a reinforced, dedicated gearbox.
Build and handling
The receiver and RIS hand guard are metal, with steel pins and screws, while the pistol grip is polymer. A top RIS rail takes optics, and the RIS hand guard offers space for a grip, torch or laser. The fire selector is ambidextrous, which suits left- and right-handed players equally.
This version has a retractable stock with an arm stabilising brace, which keeps the rifle short when collapsed and gives you a steady third point of contact when extended. The blue finish gives the M45X-S a striking look and makes it easy to pick out in a kit bag.
Getting started
Charge your battery on a proper charger and fit it following the manual. Load a magazine and test-fire at a safe backstop, starting with the hop-up off and bringing it up gradually until shots fly flat. A few minutes of zeroing at the range makes a big difference to your confidence on the field.
Practise magazine changes and battery swaps at home, and get the rifle chronographed at the site before your first game.

Compatibility
The M45X-S uses its own dedicated magazines, so buy spares made for the ARES M45 series. The RIS rails accept standard 20mm accessories, and ARES front sets and hand guards for the M45X-S can be swapped to change the barrel length. The EFCS supports LiPo batteries; check the battery space on this stock version and the connector before choosing one. The EFCS programmer is sold separately.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it away from the rifle, and charge LiPo batteries only on a proper balance charger under supervision. Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and a dry cloth patch every few games, as dirt and broken BB fragments are the main causes of flyers. Stick to good quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight.
Check screws, the flash hider and any mounts before each game day, and store the rifle somewhere dry. Leave the hop-up at a light setting in storage, and if the rifle has an electronic trigger unit, a fully charged battery helps it read the trigger cleanly.
