Description
Armorer Works Custom Hi-Capa GBBP (Full Silver Slide – Black Frame – Gold Barrel, AW-HX2001)
This Armorer Works Custom Hi-Capa, model AW-HX2001, is a competition-style gas blowback pistol from the HX20 Competitor series, finished with a full silver slide, a black frame and a gold outer barrel. It is a pistol designed to look as good on a display shelf as it does on a speed-shooting course, and its full metal slide and upper frame give it a solid, purposeful weight.
Armorer Works (often sold as AW Custom) is a Taiwanese maker with a strong following among pistol enthusiasts. Its Hi-Capa based pistols are known for crisp machining, competition-inspired styling and solid gas blowback performance straight out of the box. The HX20 brings that formula together with an enlarged competition grip, an ambidextrous safety and a flared magazine well, so it suits anyone who enjoys fast, accurate pistol shooting, whether at a skirmish, a target day or simply in the garden.
Build and design
The slide and upper frame are full metal, while the enlarged grip is textured with a honeycomb pattern that stays secure in wet or sweaty hands. Exaggerated front and rear slide serrations make it easy to rack the slide from either end, and the skeletonised trigger gives a clean, light feel. The three-colour finish, with the bright silver slide over a black frame and a gold barrel peeking out at the muzzle, is one of the most popular competition looks.
Gas blowback performance
As a gas blowback pistol, it uses gas stored in the magazine both to fire each BB and to drive the slide back. Every shot gives a sharp, realistic recoil impulse and the hammer is re-cocked automatically, so follow-up shots are quick and the pistol feels lively in the hand. The slide locks back on an empty magazine, which is a useful reminder to reload.
Like every gas pistol, its performance is affected by temperature. On warm days it cycles briskly with green gas; on cold days pressure drops, so keep a spare magazine in an inside pocket and allow a few seconds between shots during rapid strings so the magazine can recover. The hop-up is adjustable, so you can tune it to the weight of BB you use and get a flat, consistent trajectory.
Handling and accessories
The ambidextrous thumb safety and functioning beavertail grip safety suit left- and right-handed shooters, and the beavertail lets you take a high, consistent grip that helps control recoil. An enlarged flared magazine well guides the magazine home during fast reloads. Fibre-optic sights front and rear are easy to pick up quickly, and the pistol comes with a red dot mount so you can add a compact optic. An under-barrel rail accepts a pistol torch or laser for indoor sites and night games.

Compatibility
Fires standard 6mm BBs; 0.20g to 0.25g BBs suit most gas pistols. Use the 31-round magazine supplied, or genuine Armorer Works Hi-Capa magazines; Hi-Capa style magazines from other makers often fit but are not guaranteed, so please check with us before buying spares.
The supplied mount lets you fit a compact red dot sight, and the under-barrel rail accepts standard pistol lights and lasers. Holsters for Hi-Capa pistols are the best starting point, but a mounted optic or light may need a dedicated competition holster. Use only gas made for airsoft guns; never use lighter fluid or butane.
Care and maintenance
Gas blowback pistols reward a little regular attention. After a day’s play, wipe the slide, frame and magazine down with a lightly oiled cloth to remove dust and moisture, and run a cleaning rod with a clean patch through the inner barrel every so often to keep accuracy consistent. Use only gas made for airsoft, and put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine fill valve and outlet seal from time to time to keep them supple and leak-free.
Don’t overfill the magazine; a short, steady fill is enough, and you will hear and see when it is full. For storage, leave a small amount of gas in the magazine to keep the seals pressurised, store the pistol and magazines at room temperature, and avoid leaving them in a cold car or direct sun. In cold weather keep spare magazines warm in a pocket, as gas pressure drops noticeably as temperature falls. Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, as cheap or misshapen BBs are the most common cause of jams and hop-up wear.
Who is it for?
The HX2001 suits players who want a striking, competition-style sidearm with a heavy metal feel, and collectors who appreciate a well-finished three-tone Hi-Capa. It is also a good platform for anyone keen to try practical pistol shooting with a red dot.
Please note: Gas, BBs and spare magazines are not included unless stated above. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check the power and safety rules at your site before play.
