Description
Army Custom 5.1/4.3/JW3/Baba Yaga Hi-Capa Series Part – Magazine Follower (R501-A-85)
This is a genuine Army Custom spare part, the magazine follower with part number R501-A-85, listed for the Army 5.1, 4.3, JW3 and Baba Yaga Hi-Capa series gas blowback pistols. Army Armament, usually shortened to Army, is a Taiwanese maker best known for its Hi-Capa and 1911-pattern pistols, including popular film-inspired and competition-style models.
The follower is the part that sits on top of the magazine spring and pushes BBs up the magazine towards the feed lips. A worn, cracked or sticking follower is a common cause of misfeeds and of the last few BBs not feeding, so a fresh follower is a simple and inexpensive fix when a magazine starts to play up.
What the follower does
Each time the pistol cycles, the follower lifts the stack of BBs so the next round is ready to be loaded. It needs to slide freely inside the magazine and sit square, otherwise BBs can jam or double-feed. On many Hi-Capa magazines the follower also works with the slide lock, holding the slide open when the magazine is empty.
When to replace it
Replace the follower if it is cracked, chipped or badly worn, if the slide no longer locks back on an empty magazine, or if you see repeated feeding problems that clear up with a different magazine. Compare the magazine with a known good one to narrow the fault down.

Compatibility
Listed for the Army Custom 5.1, 4.3, JW3 and Baba Yaga Hi-Capa series. Hi-Capa pistols from different makers share a common layout, but parts are not always interchangeable between brands or even between production runs, so check your pistol’s make and model and compare the product photo with the part you are replacing before ordering.
If you are not sure which part you need, send us your pistol’s details and a photo of the old part and we will help you check.
Care and maintenance
Always empty the magazine of gas and BBs before taking it apart, and work over a tray or clean cloth so that small springs and screws are not lost. Note the order in which parts come out, or take photos as you go, so reassembly is straightforward.
Keep the magazine’s BB channel clean and free of grit and broken BBs, and avoid oiling the follower track heavily, which attracts dirt. After fitting, put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine’s seals, fill with gas and check for leaks before use. Store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay seated, and never use petroleum-based oils or overfill.
Who is it for?
Hi-Capa owners who want to keep their Army pistol and magazines running properly, and players or technicians who like to keep a few common spares in the kit bag rather than losing a pistol to one worn part.
Please note: This is a single spare part. The pistol, magazine and any tools are not included. If you are not confident working on gas magazines, have the part fitted by an experienced airsoft technician.
