Description
Army JW3 Baba Yaga Gas Blowback Pistol (Full Metal – Two-Tone Red – R601-RED)
The Army Armament JW3 Baba Yaga is a full metal gas blowback pistol built on the Hi-Capa platform, and this version is finished in two-tone red. It is styled after the race-tuned competition pistols made famous on screen, combining a shortened, lightened slide with a compensated barrel and a tactical magwell for a purposeful, aggressive look.
Army Armament’s Hi-Capa based pistols are known for offering a lot for the money, and the JW3 brings fibre optic sights, an ambidextrous safety and seals chosen for cold weather. In the R601-RED two-tone red finish it is one of the boldest pistols in the range, and it is just as happy on a skirmish site as on a collector’s shelf.
Build and design
The slide and frame are metal, with weight-reduction cuts in the shortened slide. A 4.1-inch island-type barrel carries a compensator at the muzzle, and the two-tone finish sets the slide apart from the frame so the pistol stands out on any holster.
The polymer grip is stippled for a secure hold, the tactical magwell guides fast reloads, and an integral frame rail takes a pistol light. Fibre optic sights make it quick to pick up the front sight, and an ambidextrous thumb safety suits left- and right-handed shooters.
Performance and gas system
The JW3 is a semi-automatic gas blowback pistol with an adjustable hop-up, so you can tune the BB’s flight to suit your preferred weight. Army Armament fits a sealed silicone hop-up rubber that is described as staying tight at low temperatures, along with a reinforced polymer nozzle designed for cooler conditions.
It feeds from a double-stack, 28-round extended gas magazine with a base pad, which gives plenty of shots between reloads for a sidearm and adds to the competition look.
Getting started
Fill the magazine with a suitable airsoft gas, holding the can upright and filling in short bursts. Let the magazine settle for a minute, load your BBs and fire a few test shots at a safe backstop with the hop-up off, then add hop a little at a time until the BBs fly flat.
Have the pistol chronographed at your site before play, and practise reloads and holster draws at home so they feel natural on game day.

Compatibility
As a Hi-Capa based pistol, the JW3 will generally take Hi-Capa style gas magazines, but competition magwells can be selective, so check fit before buying spares or ask us to confirm. The frame rail takes standard pistol lights, and you will need a holster that suits a Hi-Capa with a compensator and magwell. Use a suitable airsoft gas such as green gas, and good quality seamless BBs.
Care and maintenance
Put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine’s fill valve and seals every few fills, and store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay tight. Fill in short bursts and do not overfill, and in cold weather let magazines warm up naturally rather than heating them.
Wipe the slide rails, outer barrel and other moving parts with a thin film of silicone oil now and then, clean the inner barrel with a rod and patch, and use good quality seamless BBs. Never use petroleum-based oils on the seals.
Who is it for?
Skirmishers who want a bold, competition-styled sidearm with upgrades already fitted, and collectors who like a striking two-tone red race gun.
Please note: Gas and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using airsoft replicas.
