Army R31 1911 Gas Blowback Pistol (ARMY-R31C – Blue)
The Army Armament R31 is a full-size 1911 gas blowback pistol, here as the ARMY-R31C in blue. It combines the timeless 1911 shape with a metal frame and slide, a large-capacity magazine and a strong blowback action.

Build and design
The R31 has a metal frame and slide and is around 220mm long, the classic full-size 1911 proportions. The familiar controls, from the thumb safety to the slide stop, make it easy to pick up for anyone who knows the design.
The weight and balance of a metal 1911 make it a pleasure to shoot on the range, and the blue finish makes it a distinctive addition to a collection.
How it works
The R31 runs on green gas from a 25-round magazine, which is generous for a 1911. Each shot cycles the slide for realistic recoil. The hop-up is adjustable, and the inner barrel is around 110mm long.
Gas pistols are at their best at moderate temperatures, so in cold weather keep your magazines warm between strings of fire.
Holsters and accessories
Most holsters made for full-size 1911 replicas will suit the R31, whether you prefer a belt, drop-leg or chest-mounted set-up. A couple of spare magazines in pouches turn it into a capable sidearm for longer games.
For the range, a BB trap makes a safe backstop and keeps used BBs contained, and a padded case protects the finish in transport.
Getting started
Charge the magazine with gas in short, steady bursts and let it rest briefly before shooting. Test-fire at a safe target and set the hop-up from zero, adding a little at a time until the BB’s flight is straight and level.
Practise reloads at home so they feel natural, and have the replica chronographed at the site before your first game.

Compatibility
Use Army Armament 1911 magazines listed for the R31 where possible, as 1911 gas magazines are not always interchangeable between brands. Holsters for full-size 1911 replicas suit the R31; check the fit before buying. Use only gas made for airsoft guns, and good quality 0.20g or 0.25g BBs.
Care and maintenance
Keep a little gas in the magazines when you store them and lubricate the seals with silicone oil from time to time. Fill in short bursts until gas just starts to spit back, and keep magazines at room temperature for the best performance.
After use, check the moving parts for dirt and wipe them with a light coat of silicone oil. Clean the inner barrel occasionally, use clean seamless BBs, and keep the replica dry.
