Description

Barrett Firearms REC7 DI AR15 AEG SBR Black (By EMG / Krytac – Black – AEG-KTAEG-BREC7S-TGN13)

This is the Barrett Firearms REC7 DI AR15 SBR electric rifle (AEG) in black, made by Krytac and licensed through EMG. It is a premium M4-style carbine with licensed Barrett markings and Krytac’s own high-quality internals. Our range also lists the REC7 SBR in tungsten grey.

EMG holds licences for a range of real firearms brands, and Krytac, known for its Trident series, builds the REC7 to a high standard. Barrett’s REC7 is a direct-impingement (DI) AR-15, and the SBR (short-barrelled rifle) version is compact enough for close quarters while still handy outdoors. It suits players who want a premium, licensed M4-style rifle that works well out of the box and has a strong upgrade path.

Performance and internals

A US retailer listing for the black REC7 DI SBR describes a Krytac Nautilus Version 2 gearbox with 8mm bearings, a Krytac 30k high-torque long-type motor, a 280mm 6.05mm inner barrel and an adjustable rotary hop-up with a temperature- and wear-resistant bucking. The V2 layout means internal parts are widely available, while Krytac’s own components are designed to be durable as supplied.

That listing recommends an 11.1V buffer tube LiPo with a Deans-style T-plug, wired to the buffer tube, and advises that battery output should not exceed 30 amps. A buffer tube battery keeps the front end slim and leaves the handguard free for accessories.

Build and handling

The receiver is alloy and carries licensed Barrett markings. The listing gives a length of about 709 to 791mm depending on stock position, a 10.5 inch outer barrel and a weight of about 2.6kg, so the SBR is compact without feeling flimsy. The adjustable stock lets you set the length of pull to suit your build and kit, and standard M4 controls make it quick to learn.

The SBR length is easy to manoeuvre through doorways and vehicles, and the 14mm CCW thread accepts most airsoft suppressors and tracers if you want to extend the profile.

Compatibility

Use an 11.1V LiPo that fits the buffer tube and has a matching Deans-style connector, and keep within the 30 amp limit given in retailer listings. The 14mm CCW thread suits standard muzzle devices, and the rail accepts normal M4 accessories such as optics, lights and grips.

Care and maintenance

Disconnect and remove the battery after every game, and never store the rifle with the battery plugged in. Charge batteries with a suitable charger, never leave them charging unattended, and store them at a sensible storage charge somewhere cool and dry.

Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, as poor or damaged BBs are the main cause of jams and hop-up wear. Clean the inner barrel regularly with a cleaning rod and a soft cloth, wipe the outside down after wet or muddy games, and keep the rifle somewhere dry between games.

Who is it for?

Players who want a premium, licensed M4-style carbine that performs well out of the box, and anyone building a compact rifle for CQB or mixed sites.

Please note: A battery, charger and optic are not included. Specifications are from a retailer listing for the black REC7 DI SBR and are given as a guide. The model code shown is the same as on our tungsten version; please check the product photos for the colour. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using airsoft replicas, and check your site’s rules and power limits before play.
