Description
Bolt 5 SWAT A4 (Hard Kick Recoil – Full Stock – Black)
The Bolt 5 SWAT A4 is an MP5-pattern electric SMG from Bolt Airsoft, fitted with Bolt’s hard-kick recoil system and a full (fixed) stock, in black. The A4 is the full-stock version, giving the most stable hold of the SWAT models, which helps you control the recoil and place shots accurately.
Bolt is a Taiwanese manufacturer best known for its B.R.S.S. recoil system, which gives an electric replica a heavy, gas-like kick with every shot while keeping the reliability and low running costs of an AEG. The SWAT series brings that feel to one of the most recognisable SMG designs ever made, and it is a favourite for CQB, police and counter-terrorism themed loadouts.
The BRSS recoil system
The Bolt Recoil Shock System uses a weight driven by the gearbox to produce a strong recoil impulse on each shot. Unlike a gas replica, it does not depend on temperature, so the kick and the performance stay consistent through a cold British winter and you never need to buy gas.
The result is a noticeably stronger recoil than ordinary electric blowback, which adds a great deal to the immersion of each shot. Because a recoil system adds moving mass, it is good practice to check screws, the stock and any mounted optic now and then.
Build and internals
A European retailer listing for this SWAT A4 gives a steel body with a plastic grip and stock, a reinforced Version 2 blowback gearbox with a metal shell, metal gears, an aluminium piston and 6mm bearings, and an adjustable hop-up. It lists an overall length of about 715mm, a 200mm barrel and a weight of about 2.6kg, which gives the SMG a solid, planted feel in the hands.
The same listing gives a 200-round high-capacity magazine with a metal body, described as compatible with standard MP5-type AEG magazines, and a 7.4V LiPo battery with a small plug. Please check the manual for this model before buying upgrade parts, as recoil AEGs have their own layout.
Handling
The full stock gives a consistent cheek weld and a firm shoulder, which helps tame the recoil and makes follow-up shots easier. The classic MP5 controls are simple and familiar, and the weight of the steel body helps steady the SMG when you aim.
Listings for the SWAT range give a G3/MP5-style claw mount for optics rather than full-length rails, so a red dot on a claw mount is the usual choice. The short overall length makes the SMG quick to point and easy to move with in buildings, vehicles and narrow woodland trails.

Compatibility
A retailer listing for the SWAT A4 describes its magazine as compatible with standard MP5-type AEG magazines; fit and feeding vary between makers, especially with recoil systems, so please test any spare before relying on it. Seamless BBs of 0.20g to 0.25g are a sensible starting point.
Check the battery space and connector on this model before buying a battery; retailer listings for the SWAT range give a 7.4V LiPo with a small plug. Gearbox parts should be listed for Bolt recoil AEGs, and optics should be robust enough for a recoiling replica, mounted firmly on a claw mount.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the replica. Charge LiPo batteries with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended; NiMH packs should be charged with a smart charger that stops when the pack is full.
Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to clear dirt and residue, which keeps the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.
A recoil system adds extra movement inside the receiver, so check screws and fittings regularly and tighten anything that has worked loose. Use the battery type the manufacturer recommends, as a pack that is too powerful can add wear to a recoil gearbox.
Who is it for?
The SWAT A4 is for CQB players and classic SMG fans who want a full-stock MP5-pattern replica with genuinely strong recoil, and for anyone building a police or counter-terrorism themed loadout.
Please note: A battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
