The Classic Army SCARAB CQC Keymod (CA106M) is the shortest member of the SCARAB family, a modern AR-pattern AEG designed to be tough, reliable and easy to upgrade. This version is full metal, finished in black, and built for fast, close-quarter play.
With its compact length, slim Keymod handguard and electronic trigger, the CQC is aimed at players who spend their time in buildings, urban sites and tight woodland, where a short, light rifle makes a real difference.
Build and materials
The SCARAB’s aluminium receivers give a solid, rigid feel without unnecessary weight. The Keymod handguard keeps the front end slim and comfortable, and you only add rail sections where you need them for a torch, grip or laser.
A full-length top rail gives room for a red dot or holographic sight, the natural partner for a rifle built for quick, close-range target acquisition.
Performance and internals
The SCARAB family is built around a 9mm bearing Version 2 gearbox controlled by Classic Army’s ETU (electronic trigger unit). The ETU gives a crisp trigger response, protects the trigger contacts from wear and can be programmed for 3 or 5-round burst. A quick-change spring system lets you swap the main spring without removing the gearbox, which is handy for indoor sites with lower power limits.
A 6.03mm tight-bore inner barrel and adjustable hop-up help deliver consistent grouping; set the hop for the BB weight you are using.
Handling
The short barrel and adjustable stock let you tuck the rifle in close and move quickly around corners. M4-style controls and magazine compatibility mean it is quick to learn and quick to reload under pressure.
A single-point or two-point sling and a compact red dot are natural first additions. Practise magazine changes and battery swaps at home so you are not doing them for the first time in the middle of a game.

Compatibility
The SCARAB accepts standard M4 AEG magazines from most makers, and Version 2 gearbox parts are widely available. The Keymod handguard takes Keymod rail sections and accessories; the top rail takes standard 20mm optics mounts. Check the battery space and connector before buying a battery.
Use 6mm seamless BBs; 0.20g to 0.25g is a good starting point.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the replica. Charge LiPo batteries with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended; NiMH packs should be charged with a smart charger that stops when the pack is full.
Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to clear dirt and residue, which keeps the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.
