Description
Cyma M4 CQB RIS AEG (Black – CM501 – 0.50j)
The Cyma CM501 is a short M4 CQB carbine with a RIS railed handguard from Cyma’s Sports Line, and this version is listed with a power rating of 0.50J. That low rating makes it well suited to indoor target shooting, back-garden plinking and close-range CQB use where sites or settings call for gentler power.
The Sports Line uses a polymer body to keep the CM501 light and affordable, while the metal Version 2 gearbox inside is the most widely supported AEG gearbox design. It is compact, simple and easy to live with, which makes it a friendly first electric rifle.
Build and handling
The CM501 is around 700mm to 780mm long depending on the stock position, short enough to move easily through doorways and stairwells. The RIS handguard has rails for a torch, laser or grip, flip-up adjustable sights are fitted, and the adjustable stock lets you set the length of pull, which is useful when wearing a plate carrier.
The polymer body keeps the weight down for long sessions, and the M4 controls are simple to learn.
Performance
Inside is a metal Version 2 gearbox offering safe, semi and full-auto fire, with an adjustable hop-up. The battery sits in the stock, keeping the front end light, and the 300-round magazine holds plenty of BBs between reloads.
The 0.50J rating is as listed for this version. At this power level it is best suited to close-range target shooting and indoor use; check with your site before using it in a game, as limits and minimum requirements vary.
Getting started
Fully charge a suitable battery before first use, then fit it as described in the manual and connect it carefully. Load a magazine, wind it if it is a high-capacity type, and start with the hop-up turned off. Fire a few shots at a safe target and add hop a little at a time until the BBs fly flat without rising at the end of their flight.
Have the rifle chronographed at your site before you play, and keep a note of the hop setting that suits your favourite BB weight so you can return to it quickly.
