Can I buy this? This is a realistic replica (RIF). UK law needs a valid defence to buy one, usually UKARA registration, which you get by playing three games over two months at one site. No UKARA? See two-tone versions: you just need to be 18 or over. Questions? Ask us.

Description

Cyma Swat Full Stock (Inc. Battery and Charger – CM041B)

The Cyma CM041B is an MP5-style electric sub-machine gun in the A4 layout, with a fixed full stock and a metal RIS handguard. Cyma lists it as part of its Standard range, and this package is listed with a battery and charger, so it arrives ready to charge up and take to your first game without hunting around for a compatible power set-up.

The MP5 has been a favourite in airsoft for decades because it is compact, well balanced and instantly recognisable. The CM041B keeps that classic profile but adds a railed handguard for torches, grips and lasers, making it a practical choice for CQB and woodland players alike. Cyma is one of the best-known names for affordable, reliable AEGs, and spare parts and magazines for its MP5 family are easy to find.

Build and handling

The upper body is metal, while the lower receiver and stock are made from a tough nylon polymer, giving a reassuring feel without unnecessary weight. The listed length is about 710mm with a weight of around 3.42kg, so it sits nicely in the shoulder and is easy to manoeuvre through doorways and around barricades.

The fixed stock gives a solid, repeatable cheek weld, which helps when you are taking careful shots at range. The selector and magazine catch are ambidextrous, so left-handed players can operate the gun comfortably. The RIS handguard accepts standard rail accessories, and the package listed by a European retailer includes a tactical grip and two rail covers, so you can set it up for a firm two-handed hold straight away.

Internals and performance

Inside is a metal Version 2 gearbox (7mm) with steel gears and 7mm metal bearings, a reinforced cylinder head, a vacuum-type piston head and a metal spring guide with a bearing. A long-type, high-torque motor drives the gearbox, and the trigger uses mechanical contacts. The inner barrel is listed at 229mm.

The hop-up is adjustable and is reached by pulling back the cocking handle and opening the dust cover on the right-hand side. Retailer guidance suggests BBs in the 0.25g to 0.28g range once the hop is set. Fire modes are safe, semi-auto and full-auto, and the supplied 200-round high-capacity magazine is wound with the wheel on its base.

Getting started

Fully charge a suitable battery before first use, then fit it as described in the manual and connect it carefully. Load a magazine, wind it if it is a high-capacity type, and start with the hop-up turned off. Fire a few shots at a safe target and add hop a little at a time until the BBs fly flat without rising at the end of their flight.

Have the rifle chronographed at your site before you play, and keep a note of the hop setting that suits your favourite BB weight so you can return to it quickly.

Compatibility

The CM041B takes MP5-pattern AEG magazines. Cyma MP5 magazines are the safest choice, and most mainstream MP5 AEG magazines fit, though it is worth trying a spare before relying on it in a game. If you buy a second battery, match its size and connector to the supplied one so it fits the battery space in the stock. The RIS handguard accepts standard 20mm rail accessories, and the Version 2 gearbox shares many parts with other V2 AEGs.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out after every game and store it away from the rifle, and charge LiPo batteries only on a proper balance charger under supervision. Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and a dry cloth patch every few games, as dirt and broken BB fragments are the main causes of flyers. Stick to good quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight.

Check screws, the flash hider and any mounts before each game day, and store the rifle somewhere dry. Leave the hop-up at a light setting in storage, and if the rifle has an electronic trigger unit, a fully charged battery helps it read the trigger cleanly.

Who is it for?

The CM041B suits newer players who want a dependable, complete package, and experienced players looking for a classic MP5 with rails for CQB or as a compact back-up to a longer rifle.

Please note: BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection when using or testing any airsoft replica, and have it chronographed at your site before play.
