Description
Deadly Customs Kydex Holster UV5R Radio (OD/Green)
This Deadly Customs Kydex holster is moulded to carry the UV-5R, one of the most widely used handheld radios in airsoft. This is the standard version, shaped for the UV-5R with its normal-size battery; an Extended version is also available for radios fitted with a larger battery. It comes in od green. OD green suits woodland and olive kit.
Deadly Customs is a UK maker of Kydex holsters and accessories, and a rigid carrier like this is a tidy alternative to a fabric radio pouch. It keeps your radio in the same place every game, protects it from knocks, and lets you get it out quickly when you need it.
Why Kydex?
Kydex is a tough thermoplastic sheet that is heat-formed around the shape of the item it carries. Once moulded, it holds that shape, so the radio clicks into place and is held by the fit of the holster rather than by flaps or Velcro. It does not absorb water, does not sag when wet and is easy to clean, which makes it well suited to muddy woodland sites and wet winter games.
Because the holster is open and rigid, you can draw and re-holster the radio with one hand, and it will not fill up with debris the way a soft pouch can.
Using it in the field
Most players run their radio on the chest rig, plate carrier or belt, where it is easy to reach the push-to-talk and the controls. A Kydex carrier holds the radio steady while you move, so it does not bounce around or rattle. Keep the antenna clear of straps and pouches for the best signal, and route any headset or PTT cable so it will not snag when you draw the radio.

Compatibility
Designed for the UV-5R handheld radio. UV-5R radios can be fitted with different battery sizes, and the battery makes a big difference to the overall length, so check which battery your radio has before choosing between the standard and Extended versions. Other radios, even ones that look similar, may not fit a holster moulded for the UV-5R. Check the product images for the mounting method and make sure it suits your belt, rig or carrier.
Care and maintenance
Kydex needs very little looking after. Rinse off mud and grit with clean water, especially from the inside of the holster, because trapped grit can scratch whatever you carry in it. Dry it before storing, and check the mounting screws every so often, tightening them if they have worked loose.
Avoid leaving Kydex on a car dashboard or near a heater or fire, as high heat can soften and distort the shape. Do not use solvents to clean it; mild soapy water is all it needs.
Who is it for?
This holster is for any airsoft player who carries a UV-5R and wants a neat, secure, hard-wearing way to mount it, whether on a plate carrier, chest rig or belt. It suits skirmishers and milsim players alike.
Please note: The radio is not included.
