Description

Double Eagle M52 VSR-10 Sniper Rifle (Black)

The Double Eagle M52 is a spring-powered, bolt-action airsoft sniper rifle in the classic VSR-10 style, finished in black. Every shot is cocked by working the bolt, so it needs no battery and no gas: just load the magazine, cycle the bolt and take your shot. That makes it a simple, dependable rifle that works the same in winter as it does in summer.

Double Eagle is a Chinese manufacturer best known for affordable, well-specified replicas, and its spring sniper rifles have introduced a great many players to the bolt-action role. The M52 is a light, compact bolt-action rifle that suits players who want to try the sniper role without a big outlay, and it is easy to carry as a second gun on a sling.

Build and materials

The M52 is built mainly from ABS polymer, with alloy used where strength matters most: the bolt handle, the safety catch, the receiver rail and the sling points. The result is a rifle of around 1.5kg, which is light enough to carry all day and to hold steady from awkward positions behind cover. A rubber butt plate stops the stock slipping on your shoulder.

At around 950mm long, with a 17-inch bull-style outer barrel, it is shorter than many sniper rifles. That makes it easier to move through woodland and buildings, and retailers note that it will fit in most shotgun-style back scabbards.

How it works

Lift and draw the low-profile bolt to cock the spring and chamber a BB, push it home, and the rifle is ready to fire. The bolt pull is described as light and smooth, which helps you take follow-up shots without disturbing your position too much. A trigger-lock safety prevents accidental discharges while you move.

Inside is a 300mm inner barrel with a 6.08mm bore. The hop-up is adjusted with a slider on the left side, between the outer barrel and the stock: slide it back to add backspin and forward to reduce it, so you can tune it quickly for the BB weight you are using.

Fitting a scope and accessories

The M52 does not come with sights, but its 20mm receiver rail is ready for a scope or red dot of your choice, and a second 20mm rail at the front of the stock will take a bipod. Front and rear sling points let you carry it on a sling between engagements, and the magazine release is ambidextrous.

Getting started

Read the manual so you are familiar with the safety and loading. Load the magazine, work the bolt fully back and forward, and fire a few shots at a safe backstop with the hop-up off. Add hop gradually until the BBs fly flat at your usual engagement distance, then zero any optic to match.

Note the hop setting that suits your chosen BB weight so you can return to it, and have the rifle chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility

Use Double Eagle M52 magazines. Although the M52 follows VSR-10 styling, retailers do not confirm that Tokyo Marui VSR-10 magazines or internal upgrade parts will fit, so check carefully before buying spares or upgrades, or ask us first.

The 20mm receiver rail accepts scope mounts made for Picatinny/Weaver rails, and the rail under the fore-end can take a 20mm bipod. Heavier BBs, around 0.25g to 0.28g, generally suit a spring sniper rifle best.

Care and maintenance

Spring rifles need very little maintenance, but a clean barrel is the key to accuracy. Run a cleaning rod with a dry patch through the inner barrel every few games, and use good quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight. Wipe the alloy parts with a lightly oiled cloth now and then and keep the rifle dry.

Store the rifle uncocked so the spring is not left under tension, and avoid dry firing without a BB more than necessary, as it puts extra stress on the piston. If the bolt starts to feel rough, a drop of silicone oil on its sliding surfaces will usually help.

Who is it for?

Newer players trying the sniper role, players wanting a light and compact bolt-action rifle, and anyone who values the simplicity of a spring rifle that never needs charging or gassing.

Please note: A scope and BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and follow your site’s rules on bolt-action rifles and minimum engagement distances.
