Description
Double Eagle M62 M40A3 Sniper Rifle (Black)
The Double Eagle M62 is a spring-powered, bolt-action airsoft sniper rifle styled on the M40A3, the rifle long associated with US Marine Corps snipers. This version is finished in black. Because it is spring powered, every shot is cocked by the bolt, so there is no battery or gas to manage and performance stays the same whatever the weather.
Double Eagle is a Chinese manufacturer best known for affordable, well-specified replicas, and its spring sniper rifles have introduced a great many players to the bolt-action role. The M62 is a step up from the most basic spring snipers, with an adjustable stock, adjustable cheek rest and rails for a scope and bipod, and it suits players who want a full-size bolt-action rifle that they can set up properly without spending a fortune.
Build and materials
The M62 pairs a polymer stock with an alloy receiver and outer barrel assembly, giving a rigid action and barrel in a rifle of around 2.35kg. That weight helps it sit steadily in the shoulder when you are waiting for a target, while still being manageable to carry around a woodland site. The overall length is around 1110mm.
The stock can be adjusted for length using the supplied spacers, and the cheek rest is adjustable too, so you can set the rifle up to give a comfortable, repeatable cheek weld behind a scope. A textured grip and front and rear sling loops round off a practical, well-thought-out layout.
Rails and optics
Unlike a traditional wooden M40, the M62 has a 20mm railed handguard as well as a 20mm railed receiver. The receiver rail takes your scope, while the handguard rails give room for a bipod, torch or other accessories. No sights are fitted, so plan to add a scope or red dot that suits the way you play.
Performance and hop-up
Working the bolt cocks the spring and chambers a BB from the magazine. The hop-up is a slider type, reached externally near the front of the handguard once the rifle is assembled, so you can make adjustments in the field without taking anything apart. Heavier BBs, around 0.28g to 0.30g, generally suit a spring sniper rifle of this type.
A trigger-lock safety is fitted to prevent accidental discharges while you move between positions.
Getting started
Read the manual so you are familiar with the safety and loading. Load the magazine, work the bolt fully back and forward, and fire a few shots at a safe backstop with the hop-up off. Add hop gradually until the BBs fly flat at your usual engagement distance, then zero any optic to match.
Note the hop setting that suits your chosen BB weight so you can return to it, and have the rifle chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility
Use Double Eagle M62 magazines; check the model carefully before buying spares, as magazines for other M40-style rifles are not guaranteed to fit. The 20mm rails accept standard Picatinny/Weaver mounts for scopes, bipods and other accessories.
Internal upgrade parts made for other brands’ M40 or VSR-10 rifles may not fit the M62, so ask us before buying upgrades.
Care and maintenance
Keep the inner barrel clean with a cleaning rod and a dry patch, and use good quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight for the best accuracy. Wipe the alloy receiver and barrel with a lightly oiled cloth now and then, and dry the rifle after wet games before putting it away.
Store the rifle uncocked so the spring is not left under tension, and avoid dry firing without a BB. Check the stock and rail screws from time to time with the supplied Allen keys, as a loose action or scope mount is a common cause of wandering shots.
Who is it for?
Players who want a full-size, adjustable bolt-action sniper rifle at a sensible price, whether for a first sniper build or as a dependable spring rifle for woodland games.
Please note: A scope, bipod and BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and follow your site’s rules on bolt-action rifles and minimum engagement distances.
