Double Eagle M89 Gearbox
This is a replacement gearbox for Double Eagle’s M89 series of electric airsoft guns. Double Eagle is a long-established maker of affordable AEGs, and the M89 range, which includes the M89A SMG-45, is a compact submachine gun design popular with players who want something light and handy for close-quarter games.
The gearbox is the heart of any AEG: it holds the motor-driven gears, the piston and spring that compress the air for each shot, and the trigger and selector parts that control semi and full-auto fire. About the M89
UK retailers list Double Eagle’s M89A with a metal Version 3 gearbox with steel gears. The Version 3 layout is also used in many AK and G36-type AEGs, although gearbox shells and fittings vary between models, so a gearbox made for the M89 is the safest choice for this gun.

Care and maintenance
After fitting, test the gun on semi-auto first and listen for any grinding or binding. Do not hold the trigger with the gun jammed, and use a battery of the type recommended for your gun. Keep the gun dry and stored with the battery removed.
Store the battery out of the gun, keep the gearbox and electrical contacts dry, and use good-quality seamless 6mm BBs to protect the hop-up and barrel. If you are not confident working inside a gearbox, have the part fitted by an airsoft technician; a gearbox that is reassembled with a part out of place can be damaged as soon as power is applied.
