Description
Eddystone Delta 125mm Eels – Individual
The Delta eel is one of the classic British soft lures for sea fishing, and this listing is for the 125mm size, sold individually. Its slim sandeel profile and soft, flexible tail imitate the small baitfish that bass, pollack, cod and many other sea predators feed on, and it has caught huge numbers of fish around our coast over the years.
The Delta name and products are now made in the UK by Eddystone Eel, who took over the original tooling and kept this famous lure in production. Delta eels are known for being hard-wearing and come in a wide range of colours and sizes, from tiny 50mm versions for light shore fishing up to large models for boat and wreck work. The 125mm is a versatile mid-size, a good choice for shore fishing and shallower marks where predators are feeding on smaller sandeels.
How to fish it
From a boat, a Delta eel is often fished on a long flowing trace behind a boom, lowered to the bottom over wrecks and reefs and then wound back up steadily so the tail works. From the shore, it can be fished on a jig head or weighted hook and cast and retrieved, or fished on a flowing trace with a light lead. A slow, steady retrieve is usually all that is needed to bring the tail to life.
Rigging tips
Thread the eel onto a hook so it lies perfectly straight; a lure that is bent on the hook will spin rather than swim. Bring the hook point out along the back of the body. Many anglers add a small bead or a drop of glue at the head to stop the lure sliding down the shank after a few fish.

- Soft, flexible tail that works on a slow retrieve
- Hard-wearing body

Compatibility
Fish on a hook, jig head or weighted hook sized to suit the lure body, so the hook point sits back along the body without distorting it. Works with light to medium lure rods from the shore and with standard boat rods for trace fishing. A fluorocarbon or mono trace is recommended for a natural presentation.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the lure in fresh water after use and let it dry before storing. Keep soft lures in their own compartments or packets, away from other colours and from hard plastic lures, and out of direct sunlight and heat to stop them distorting. Replace any lure with a torn or badly bitten tail, as it will no longer swim properly.
Who is it for?
Sea anglers fishing for bass, pollack, cod and other predators from boat or shore who want a proven, British-made soft eel.
