The Galaxy M82, model G31CD, is a spring powered bolt-action airsoft rifle in tan, supplied with a scope. It is styled on the M82A1, the famous heavy anti-materiel rifle, with a big, angular receiver and long barrel that give it serious presence on the field. The tan finish suits desert, coyote and multicam loadouts.
Galaxy is known for affordable replicas, and the G31 series offers the dramatic look of a large-calibre rifle in a simple, mechanical package. With a scope included, this version is a ready-to-go setup for anyone who wants to try a long gun without buying an optic separately.
Build and materials
The body, stock and magazine are made from tough polymer, which keeps the weight manageable for such a large rifle at around 3kg, while the cylinder and trigger are metal. Overall length is approximately 1.4 metres, so this is a big rifle in the hands. Helpfully, it splits into two sections, barrel and receiver, which makes it much easier to carry in a bag or fit in a car.
Spring bolt-action operation
Each shot is cocked by working the bolt, which compresses the spring and loads a BB from the 30-round magazine. As the rifle is purely mechanical, it needs no batteries or gas and gives the same performance whatever the temperature. That makes it a dependable choice for UK weather.
Scope and rail
A long 20mm Weaver-style rail runs along the top of the receiver, giving plenty of room to position the supplied scope where it suits your eye relief. Make sure the scope is firmly mounted, set your hop-up, then zero the scope at the distance you most often shoot.
Handling and use
The M82’s size and weight make it most at home shooting from a supported position, such as prone, over cover or on a bipod. Compatibility
Uses Galaxy M82/G31 magazines. The top rail accepts 20mm Weaver and Picatinny-style mounts, so you can swap the supplied scope for another optic if you wish. Use good-quality 6mm BBs.
Care and maintenance
Store the rifle uncocked. Clean the inner barrel periodically with a cleaning rod, use clean seamless BBs, and wipe the scope lenses only with a lens cloth. When splitting the rifle for transport, keep the joining surfaces clean and check everything is secure when reassembling.
