Gate NanoHARD
The GATE NanoHARD is a programmable MOSFET with an active brake, designed for electric airsoft guns. It is one of the smallest MOSFETs on the market, yet it offers a set of protection features and eight programs, making it a capable upgrade for players who want to protect their rifle and battery.
GATE’s electronics are widely used by players and technicians, and the NanoHARD sits between simple switching MOSFETs and the larger programmable units. It suits players who want an active brake, battery protection and a smart fuse in a compact unit.
What it does
A MOSFET is an electronic switch. In a standard AEG, the full battery current passes through the trigger contacts every time you fire, and over time the contacts burn and pit, especially with higher-voltage LiPo batteries. With a MOSFET fitted, the trigger contacts only carry a tiny signal current, while the MOSFET switches the main current from the battery to the motor.
The NanoHARD adds a third-generation active brake that can be switched off. In semi-auto it stops the piston compressing after a shot, and it stops firing as soon as the trigger is released. A self-test function checks the circuit and shows whether the brake is on, using two LEDs.
Protection
Retailers describe programmable low-voltage protection for 2 to 4 cell LiPo batteries, a smart fuse that measures the current flowing through the circuit, and protection against overheating and short circuits. It also protects the motor and battery if the gun jams. The unit has a special coating for resistance to different weather conditions, and it is compatible with microswitches.
Fitting
Installation involves fitting the signal cable and changing the existing connections on the switch contacts. The kit includes a spare set of Deans-T connectors, single and two-wire signal cables, a programming button and two jumpers.

Compatibility
Designed for AEGs with batteries in the listed 7.2V to 14.8V range. It is compatible with microswitch triggers. Check that your gun does not already have a MOSFET or electronic trigger fitted, and set the low-voltage protection to match your battery type.
Care and maintenance
Once fitted, a MOSFET needs very little attention. Keep wiring tidy and away from moving parts, check that solder joints and heat shrink are sound whenever the gearbox is opened, and keep connectors clean. Disconnect the battery whenever the gun is not in use, and use a battery suited to your set-up rather than relying on electronics to make up for a badly matched spring, motor and battery.
