Product overview

GATE's TITAN is a drop-in control unit that replaces the trigger contacts and switch assembly inside an AEG gearbox with an electronic trigger, optical sensors and a built-in MOSFET. This version is made for Version 2 gearboxes. Once fitted, the trigger no longer pushes metal contacts together to fire the motor; instead the unit reads the trigger and the position of the gears and drives the motor itself, giving a sharper, more consistent response and doing away with one of the most common wear points in an electric gun.

Description

Gate TITAN V2 Advanced Set [Front Wired]

GATE’s TITAN is a drop-in control unit that replaces the trigger contacts and switch assembly inside an AEG gearbox with an electronic trigger, optical sensors and a built-in MOSFET.

GATE is a Polish electronics maker that has become one of the best-known names in AEG upgrades, and TITAN is its flagship drop-in system. It suits players who want a more responsive trigger, more control over how their rifle fires and better protection for the battery and motor, and it is equally at home in a stock rifle or a high-speed or high-torque build.

How it works

Inside the gearbox the TITAN unit takes the place of the original trigger assembly. Optical sensors watch the trigger and the gears rather than relying on microswitches, so there is no mechanical contact to burn or wear out. Because the unit knows exactly where the gears are in their cycle, it can stop the piston in the right place after every shot, apply active braking to prevent over-spin, and pre-cock the spring if you want a faster first shot. The Version 2 gearbox is the one found in M4/M16-pattern AEGs and many other common designs, so this covers a large share of the rifles seen at UK sites.

The Advanced edition

The Advanced Set pairs the TITAN unit with GATE’s Advanced firmware and a programming link, so you can tune it from day one. Using the free GATE Control Station application on a computer or Android device, you can adjust trigger sensitivity, fire selector configuration, burst length, pre-cocking, rate of fire and more, view usage statistics and install firmware updates. It is the middle option in the range: more control than the Basic Module, without the wireless link of the Expert Blu-Set.

Wiring

The front-wired layout routes the power cable forward to the handguard, which is where the battery lives on many M4-style rifles with a front-mounted battery. Wiring is 16 AWG with Deans-type connectors fitted, and an adaptor for mini Tamiya batteries is supplied, so you can run either connector type. Check where your battery sits before ordering, as the front-wired and rear-wired versions are not interchangeable without rewiring.

Compatibility

Designed for Version 2 gearboxes. Gearboxes vary between manufacturers, so check that your gearbox shell is a standard Version 2 pattern before ordering. Make sure your motor, spring and battery are a sensible match for each other; TITAN protects the electrics, but it cannot make up for a badly balanced set-up. GATE publishes installation manuals and videos for each version, and these are worth reading before you start.

Care and maintenance

Installation means opening the gearbox, so if you are not comfortable with that work, have a technician fit it. Once installed, TITAN needs very little attention: keep the gearbox clean and correctly shimmed, avoid pinching wires when you reassemble the rifle, and disconnect the battery when the gun is not in use. Use the built-in diagnostics if something feels wrong, and keep the firmware up to date through the GATE Control Station app when you have a programming link.

Who is it for?

For owners of AEGs with a Version 2 (V2) gearbox who want a faster, more reliable trigger and finer control over how their rifle fires, from players upgrading a first rifle to builders setting up a high-performance gun.

Please note: fitting requires gearbox disassembly. The rifle, battery and charger are not included.
