Description

G&G Anti Reversal Latch for V2 and V3 Gearbox (G-10-015)

This G&G anti-reversal latch (part number G-10-015) is a replacement internal part for Version 2 and Version 3 AEG gearboxes, so it covers M4, MP5, AK and many other common designs. The anti-reversal latch stops the bevel gear from spinning backwards under the force of the compressed spring, holding the gears in place between shots.

G&G is a long-established manufacturer of AEGs and parts, and a genuine G&G latch is a dependable choice for repairs and rebuilds. It is also worth having a spare in your kit bag, as a broken latch will take a gun out of action.

How it works

When the motor stops, the spring is often partly compressed and pushes back against the gears. The anti-reversal latch engages with the teeth on the bevel gear, preventing the gears from turning backwards. When you need to strip the gearbox, the latch is released to let the spring decompress safely. A broken or worn latch can let the gears spin in reverse, causing jams and potentially damaging the motor or gears.

Signs it needs replacing

A gearbox that locks up, a motor that struggles to start the next shot, or a loud clunk after firing can all point to a worn anti-reversal latch. Inspect the latch tip for rounding or chips whenever the gearbox is open.

Fitting

Fitting this part means opening the gearbox, which requires care. Remove the battery, take the gearbox out of the gun, and photograph each stage as you strip it so you can refer back during reassembly. Keep springs under control when splitting the shell, check the shimming of the gears when you rebuild, and apply a light coat of suitable grease where needed. If you are not confident working inside a gearbox, a qualified airsoft technician can fit it for you.

Key features

  • Anti-reversal latch for V2 and V3 gearboxes
  • Prevents the gears turning backwards
  • Protects motor and gears from reverse spin
  • Genuine G&G part
  • Part number G-10-015

Compatibility

Designed for Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes. Most standard V2 and V3 shells accept this type of latch, but check your gearbox and bevel gear before ordering, as some designs and some aftermarket gears use different patterns. Replace the latch spring at the same time if it is weak.

Care and maintenance

Store spare parts in their packaging, somewhere dry. Once fitted, keep the gearbox clean and correctly lubricated, and avoid over-greasing, which attracts dirt. Unplug the battery when the gun is not in use, and if you notice new noises, misfeeds or changes in rate of fire, stop and check the gearbox before continuing to use the gun.

Who is it for?

For players and technicians maintaining V2 or V3 gearboxes who need a reliable replacement latch, and anyone wanting a sensible spare for their kit bag.

Please note: this is a single replacement part; the gun and other gearbox components are not included.
