Description
GHK 553 Gas Blowback Rifle (Full Steel – Black)
The GHK 553 is a gas blowback replica of the compact SIG 553 carbine, a Swiss design known for its short length, folding stock and robust construction. GHK is one of the most respected names in gas blowback rifles, and its 553 has a reputation for strong recoil and realistic operation. This version is listed as Full Steel in black.
Gas blowback rifles appeal to players who want every shot to feel real: the bolt cycles, the rifle kicks into your shoulder and the controls work just as they would on the original. The 553’s compact proportions make it equally at home in CQB and woodland.
Handling and features
The stock folds to the side and locks securely in both the open and closed positions, making the rifle very short for transport or tight spaces. The textured pistol grip, flip-up front and rear iron sights, and a top rail for optics make it easy to set up for your style of play.
The charging handle is removable, the magazine release is an ambidextrous paddle, and locking body pins with push-button release make stripping the rifle straightforward. Sling points are provided at the rear, front and on the stock. Under the flash hider is a 14mm counter-clockwise thread for a suppressor or tracer unit.
Gas system and magazines
Retailer listings for the GHK 553 give green gas or Top Gas. The magazines are gassed from the back, have a large gas reservoir, interlock for stacking, and have a semi-transparent shell so you can see how many BBs are left. Magazine capacity is listed at 32 rounds.
The hop-up is an adjustable radial unit, and fire modes are safe, semi-auto and full-auto. As with any gas rifle, performance is best in mild temperatures, so keep spare magazines warm on colder days.
Getting started
Charge the magazine with gas in short, steady bursts and let it rest briefly before shooting. Test-fire at a safe target and set the hop-up from zero, adding a little at a time until the BB’s flight is straight and level.
Practise reloads at home so they feel natural, and have the replica chronographed at the site before your first game.

Care and maintenance
Put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine’s fill valve and seals every few fills, and store magazines with a little gas in them so the seals stay tight. Do not overfill, and let magazines warm up to room temperature in cold weather rather than heating them.
Wipe the moving parts and the outer barrel with a thin film of silicone oil now and then, clean the inner barrel with a rod and patch, and use good quality seamless BBs. Never use petroleum-based oils on the seals.
