Description
Golden Eagle AMD-65 AK (Full Metal Tactical Hungarian AK)
The Golden Eagle AMD-65 is a full metal electric airsoft rifle based on the Hungarian AMD-65, one of the most distinctive members of the AK family. The original was a shortened, handier AK with a forward vertical grip, and the result is a compact rifle with a look all of its own.
This tactical version brings that shape to the airsoft field in full metal construction, giving it the solid, cool-to-the-touch feel that AK fans look for. Golden Eagle builds affordable, practical replicas, and the AMD-65 is a good example: an interesting and slightly unusual AK that is still easy to own, run and maintain. It suits CQB players, AK enthusiasts and anyone building a Cold War or Eastern European loadout.
Build and internals
The full metal build gives the rifle weight and rigidity, and helps it stand up to the knocks of regular use. Inside, our AMD-65 listings give a full metal version 3 gearbox, the standard AK pattern, which means spare parts and upgrades are easy to find if you decide to improve it later. The hop-up is adjustable so you can set it for the BB weight you choose.
It fires in safe, semi and full auto, selected with the traditional AK-style selector on the side of the receiver. As with any AK, the selector has a long, positive throw; it takes a little practice to switch quickly, but it soon becomes second nature.
Handling
The AMD-65’s short length and forward grip make it particularly well suited to close-quarters play. The forward grip gives you a firm hold for fast target transitions, and the compact package is easy to manoeuvre through buildings and woodland.
Fitting a compact optic (check which mounting options your rifle has) and a sling for carrying will round it off nicely. Keep a couple of spare AK magazines in pouches and it makes a dependable, characterful main rifle.

Compatibility
The AMD-65 takes AK-pattern AEG magazines; most mainstream AK magazines fit, though fit can vary slightly between makers, so test a new brand before relying on it. Version 3 AK gearbox parts are widely available for upgrades.
Battery type and connector are not stated in this listing, so check the battery space and connector before buying a battery, or ask us for advice. 0.20g to 0.25g seamless BBs are a sensible starting point; heavier BBs often suit longer barrels once the hop-up is set.
Care and maintenance
Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge; never leave it connected inside the rifle. Charge LiPo packs with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended.
Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time, and use good-quality seamless BBs rather than cheap or reused ones, which are the main cause of jams and hop-up wear. Metal AK furniture and receivers are worth wiping over after damp games and storing somewhere dry, and it pays to check the screws on the handguard, grip and any rail sections before each game day.
Who is it for?
This rifle is for AK fans who want something more unusual than an AK-47 or AK-74, CQB players who value a short rifle with a forward grip, and anyone building a Hungarian or Eastern Bloc themed loadout.
Please note: Battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included with this version. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
