Golden Eagle M4A1 Gas Blowback Rifle (Black)
The Golden Eagle M4A1 is a gas blowback replica of the classic M4A1 carbine, finished in traditional black. The bolt carrier moves back with every shot, giving you real felt recoil and a satisfying mechanical sound, and the controls work in the same way as the rifle it copies.
The M4A1 is the most widely copied rifle in airsoft, and a gas blowback version is the natural next step for players who already know the platform from electric rifles and want a more realistic experience. We also carry Golden Eagle’s M4A1 GBB in a blue UK colour version, so this is the black model of the same rifle.
How it works
The gas lives in the magazine. Each pull of the trigger releases a measured burst of gas that fires the BB and drives the bolt carrier back, cocking the rifle for the next shot. That cycle is what gives a GBBR its recoil and its distinctive sound.
With no battery, there is nothing to charge before a game: fill your magazines, load BBs and you are ready. As with all gas rifles, performance is best in mild weather and drops off in the cold, so keep spare magazines warm in winter.
Handling and layout
The classic M4A1 layout means a collapsible stock to adjust length of pull, a pistol grip and safety selector where you expect them, and a magazine release on the right of the receiver. Training with a gas rifle builds good habits, as reloads and manipulations need a little more thought than on an AEG.
Optics, lights and slings for the M4 platform fit as normal, so you can set it up as a classic carbine or with modern accessories.
Getting started
Charge the magazine with gas in short, steady bursts and let it rest briefly before shooting. Test-fire at a safe target and set the hop-up from zero, adding a little at a time until the BB’s flight is straight and level.
Practise reloads at home so they feel natural, and have the replica chronographed at the site before your first game.

Compatibility
Use magazines made for Golden Eagle M4 gas blowback rifles; GBB magazines are not interchangeable between brands and AEG magazines will not fit, so check before buying spares.
External M4 accessories such as optics, lights and slings fit as normal. Use a good quality airsoft gas suited to the rifle and follow the manual’s guidance on gas type.
Care and maintenance
Keep a little gas in the magazines when you store them and lubricate the seals with silicone oil from time to time. Fill in short bursts until gas just starts to spit back, and keep magazines at room temperature for the best performance.
After use, check the moving parts for dirt and wipe them with a light coat of silicone oil. Clean the inner barrel occasionally, use clean seamless BBs, and keep the replica dry.
