Description
Golden Eagle M870 AR Tactical Tri-Shot Gas Pump Action Shotgun (Medium – Black – M8874 – V2)
The Golden Eagle M8874 is a gas-powered pump-action shotgun that fires several BBs per shot, combining the familiar Model 870 action with an AR-type stock and pistol grip. This is the black, medium-length version of the AR Tactical model, listed as V2, and it is a popular choice for CQB players who want the punch and theatre of a shotgun.
Golden Eagle’s M870 range is well regarded for its tri-shot gas system, which fires three or six BBs at once, and for its practical features such as flip-up sights, a top rail and an on-gun shell holder. The AR-style stock gives a modern, adjustable feel compared with a traditional fixed stock.
How it works
Gas is stored in a reservoir in the stock and filled with 134a or green gas. BBs are loaded into shells that hold 30 BBs each, and one shell is loaded into the shotgun at a time. Each pump of the fore-end readies a shot, and pulling the trigger releases a group of BBs from the three barrels.
An internal selector lets you choose between three or six BBs per shot, so you can save ammunition or maximise spread depending on the situation. The hop-up is fixed and factory-set, which keeps things simple.
Build and features
The receiver, outer barrel and trigger assembly are metal, with polymer used elsewhere. The listed length is about 870mm with a 530mm barrel and a weight of about 3465g with the magazine. An AR-type stock with a grip adapter and A2-style pistol grip gives a comfortable modern hold.
A metal 20mm top rail accepts red dots and other optics, and flip-up detachable front and rear sights are fitted. A metal shell holder on the gun carries six shells, so spares are always to hand, and quick-detach sling swivels make carrying easy.
Getting started
Read the manual first, then fill the gas reservoir in the stock with 134a or green gas in short bursts. Load BBs into a shell, insert the shell, work the pump firmly through its full stroke and fire a few shots at a safe backstop to see how the spread behaves at your usual distances.
Practise swapping shells from the on-gun holder so reloads become second nature, and have the shotgun chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility
Use Golden Eagle M870-series shells; spares are a sensible early purchase. The stock reservoir is filled with 134a or green gas. The 20mm top rail accepts standard rail-mounted optics. Good quality, seamless 0.20g BBs are a sensible choice with the fixed hop-up.
Care and maintenance
Fill the stock reservoir in short bursts with the shotgun held as the manual shows, and do not overfill. Put a drop of silicone oil on the fill valve now and then, and store the shotgun with a little gas in the reservoir to keep the seals supple.
Keep shells clean and free of grit, wipe the pump and outer parts with a light film of silicone oil, and store the shotgun dry. Use clean seamless BBs, as dirty BBs can jam a multi-barrel system.
Who is it for?
The M8874 suits CQB players who want a fast-handling, hard-hitting shotgun with a modern stock, and anyone looking for a fun, reliable gas shotgun with plenty of features.
Please note: Gas and BBs are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check your site’s rules on shotguns before play.
