Description
HFC GG-104 Gas Pistol
The HFC GG-104 is a gas-powered airsoft pistol from HFC’s GG range. HFC is a long-established Taiwanese maker of affordable gas pistols, and its range is a popular first step into gas airsoft for players who want something more realistic than a spring pistol without a big outlay.
A gas pistol is a natural next step from a spring pistol: there is no cocking between shots, so you can shoot as quickly as you can pull the trigger, and a single fill of the magazine gives a good number of shots. The GG-104 is an affordable, straightforward way to enjoy that convenience for target practice, plinking and as a budget sidearm.
How it works
Gas is filled into the pistol’s magazine through a fill valve, and each pull of the trigger releases a measured amount of gas to fire one BB. Loading BBs into the magazine and filling it with gas takes only a moment, so you spend more of your time shooting and less time preparing.
Because the power comes from the gas, the pistol is quiet and easy to shoot accurately, and there is no spring to compress between shots.
Gas in cold weather
All gas pistols are affected by temperature. On warm days they shoot briskly and consistently; when it is cold, gas pressure drops and shots become weaker. Keep the pistol or a spare magazine in an inside pocket before use, and give the magazine a few seconds between shots during rapid strings so it can recover.
Getting the best from it
Shoot at a safe backstop, such as a purpose-made BB trap, so that BBs are caught rather than bouncing back. Paper targets at five to ten metres make a good start; move back as your groups tighten. If accuracy drops off, check the BBs first, as dirty or damaged BBs are the usual cause, then give the inner barrel a quick clean.
Owning a gas pistol is also a good introduction to the routine every gas airsoft user follows: filling magazines correctly, keeping seals lubricated and storing magazines with a little gas inside. Those habits carry straight over if you move on to a blowback pistol or a gas rifle later.

Care and maintenance
Gas pistols need only a little regular attention. Wipe the pistol and magazine down after use, run a cleaning rod with a clean patch through the inner barrel occasionally, and use only gas designed for airsoft. A drop of silicone oil on the magazine fill valve and outlet seal now and then keeps the seals supple and helps prevent leaks.
Fill the magazine with short, steady bursts and do not overfill. Store it with a little gas inside so the seals stay pressurised, keep the pistol at room temperature, and keep the magazine warm on cold days, as gas pressure drops in low temperatures. Always use good quality seamless 6mm BBs.
Who is it for?
The HFC GG-104 suits newcomers looking for an affordable first gas pistol, garden target shooters and anyone who wants a simple, low-cost pistol for plinking.
