Huntsman’s H17 Series CO2 pistol is a non-blowback design in the H17 family, here in green. It is a straightforward pistol for target practice and casual games, with a fixed slide and very little to go wrong.
The green finish gives it a distinctive look that is a little different from the usual black or tan. Please check the product images to see exactly which parts are coloured. We do not have a full specification sheet for the CO2 version of the H17, so the images are the best guide to its size and shape.
Design and handling
Huntsman’s H17 name is used across its G17-pattern pistols, so this CO2 model shares its name and general styling with the H17 gas blowback range. As a non-blowback design it does not have a cycling slide, which keeps the mechanism simple and makes the pistol easy to use straight away.

How a CO2 non-blowback pistol works
A non-blowback pistol has a fixed slide, so none of the gas is used to move it. Each pull of the trigger releases gas to send a BB down the barrel, and the pistol is ready for the next shot. Without the slide cycling, there is no felt recoil, but more of the gas goes into firing BBs.
CO2 holds its pressure better than standard airsoft gas in cooler weather, which is one reason players choose CO2 pistols for winter games. It is still affected by temperature, so performance will vary between a cold morning and a warm afternoon.

Getting started
Read the manual before the first use so you understand how to fit and remove the CO2 safely, how to load BBs and where the safety is. Fit the CO2 with the pistol pointing in a safe direction, load BBs and fire a few shots at a safe backstop to get a feel for the trigger.
Practise drawing and aiming at home with the pistol unloaded and no CO2 fitted, so handling it becomes second nature before you take it to a game.

Compatibility
Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs and the CO2 recommended in the manual. Huntsman lists its H17 HG3 DE series gas magazines in 6mm, in a plastic version and an HP version, and the H17 in that name may include this pistol. Please ask us to confirm which magazine suits this pistol before buying spares, and test any new magazine before relying on it in a game.

Care and maintenance
Before storing the pistol, fire off or release any remaining CO2 as the manual describes, and never leave the pistol charged for long periods. Put a drop of silicone oil on the seals where the CO2 is fitted from time to time to help them stay gas-tight.
Wipe the outside of the pistol with a soft, lightly oiled cloth, clean the inner barrel occasionally with a rod and a soft patch, and keep the pistol somewhere cool and dry. Use good quality seamless BBs to avoid jams.
Use only silicone-based lubricants on rubber seals and O-rings. Petroleum-based oils and solvents can make rubber swell and break down, which causes leaks.
