Description
KWA AEG Variable QRF Mod 2 – Black
The QRF Mod 2 is KWA’s take on the pistol-calibre carbine: an AR-style layout shrunk down into a compact, quick-handling package that feeds from slim 9mm-style magazines rather than standard M4 mags. It is built around KWA’s AEG Variable system, which brings the company’s Variable Performance System (VPS) for adjusting power output, and it is finished in black with an M-LOK handguard, PTS-made furniture and ambidextrous controls.
KWA are a long-established Taiwanese manufacturer with a strong reputation for well-engineered gas and electric replicas, and the QRF line is one of their most distinctive designs. The Mod 2 is short enough to move easily through doorways, vehicles and tight woodland, yet it keeps the familiar AR controls that most players already know. If you want a nimble main gun for CQB sites, or a capable compact secondary for outdoor games, it is well worth a look.
Performance and internals
The headline feature is the Variable Performance System. Using the supplied adjustment tool you can alter the power output, so the same gun can be set up for an indoor site with lower limits or an outdoor site that allows a little more. That flexibility is rare in an AEG at this level and avoids the need to strip the gearbox and change springs every time you move between venues. As always, chrono the gun after any adjustment to confirm it is within the limits of the site you are playing at.
KWA describe the gearbox as compatible with common add-ons such as drop-in programmable MOSFET and ECU units, so there is a clear upgrade path if you later want a sharper trigger, burst settings or active braking. A high-torque motor drives the system, and the hop-up is adjustable so you can tune it to the BB weight you use.
Build and handling
The receiver is metal, giving the gun a solid, rattle-free feel. The M-LOK handguard keeps the front end slim and lets you bolt on rail sections only where you need them, for a torch, laser or short vertical grip. A top rail carries flip-up sights and leaves room for a red dot or compact holographic sight. The PDW-style stock includes a cheek rest and adjusts for length, letting you tuck the gun in tight when wearing plate carriers or a chest rig.
Controls are fully ambidextrous: fire selector, magazine release and sling attachment can all be used from either side, so left- and right-handed players are equally well served. Fire modes are safe, semi and full auto. The 9mm-style magazine well also makes reloads quick and natural, as the slim magazines are easy to grab from a pistol or SMG pouch.

Compatibility
The QRF Mod 2 takes KWA’s own QRF magazines and is also compatible with KWA TK.45 and TK.45c magazines; it does not accept standard M4 rifle magazines. Batteries need a small Tamiya connector, or a suitable adapter if yours uses a Deans/T-plug. The M-LOK handguard accepts any standard M-LOK rail section or accessory, and the top rail takes standard Picatinny-mount optics. Use good-quality 6mm seamless BBs, and adjust the hop-up whenever you change BB weight.
Care and maintenance
Always unplug the battery after a game and store it off the gun, at storage charge if it is LiPo. Run a cleaning rod through the inner barrel every few games to remove dirt and BB residue, which keeps grouping consistent. Avoid cheap or reused BBs, as they are the most common cause of hop-up jams. Keep magazines clean and dry, and wipe the exterior after damp days to protect the metal finish. If you make a power adjustment with the VPS tool, re-chrono before play.
Who is it for?
The QRF Mod 2 suits CQB players who want something shorter and lighter than a standard M4 without giving up AR-style handling, and anyone who plays at several sites with different power limits. It also makes a sensible, compact second gun for outdoor players who want a nimble option for buildings and close-quarter areas.
Please note: Battery and charger are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check the power limits at your site before play.
