This Laylax Prometheus EG barrel is a 6.03mm tight bore precision inner barrel, 110mm long, listed for MP5K AEGs. The MP5K is one of the most compact sub-machine guns around, and a precise barrel helps make the most of the very short length available.
Prometheus is the internal upgrade brand of Japanese maker Laylax. Its EG barrels are made in a long list of lengths to suit specific replicas, so you can fit a quality barrel without changing the gun’s outside dimensions.
Build and bore
EG barrels are stainless steel, with a bore tolerance quoted by Laylax at plus or minus 0.01mm for the series. The tight 6.03mm bore leaves less gap around the BB than a looser stock barrel, which helps efficiency and consistency.
Getting the best from a short barrel
With only 110mm of barrel, the hop-up does most of the work in stabilising each BB. A fresh, well-seated hop-up rubber and careful hop adjustment make a big difference, and a smooth, straight barrel like this gives the hop a consistent platform to work from.
Fitting
Remove the battery and magazine, strip the MP5K to reach the barrel and hop-up unit, and transfer or replace the hop-up rubber when fitting the new barrel. Align the window with the hop-up nub, reassemble, set the hop gradually and have the gun chronographed.

Listed for MP5K AEGs. MP5K replicas from different makers can use different barrel lengths and hop-up units, so measure your existing inner barrel before ordering. The hop-up rubber is not listed as included.
Care and maintenance
Clean the bore every few games with a cleaning rod and a dry patch. Use clean, seamless BBs of a consistent weight and keep oil off the hop-up rubber. If a BB lodges, clear it gently with a rod.
