Description
Rocket Sector Gear Delay Chip
The Rocket Sector Gear Delay Chip is a small but important part for AEG gearboxes running at a high rate of fire. Fitted to the sector gear, it slightly delays the moment the tappet plate is released, giving each BB more time to feed into the hop-up chamber before the air nozzle closes behind it. The result is fewer misfeeds and misfires on fast-cycling builds.
Depending on stock levels, the chip you receive will be branded either Rocket or SHS. It is a simple, inexpensive part, but on a high-speed build it can make the difference between a gun that feeds every shot and one that keeps double-feeding or firing blanks.
How it works
In an AEG, the sector gear moves the tappet plate, which pulls the air nozzle back to let a BB drop into the chamber, then pushes it forward to seal the BB in before the piston is released. When the rate of fire is pushed up with a faster motor, higher-voltage battery, short-stroked piston or higher-ratio gears, the nozzle can return before the next BB has had time to feed. A delay chip holds the tappet plate back for a fraction longer, giving the BB time to settle in place.
When to fit one
Consider a delay chip if your AEG feeds properly at a normal rate of fire but starts to misfeed after an upgrade, or if you are planning a high-speed build from the outset. It is also commonly fitted alongside a high-speed gear set or when moving to an 11.1V battery.
Key features
- Sector gear delay chip for AEG gearboxes
- Helps prevent misfiring and misfeeds on high-speed builds
- Gives BBs more time to feed into the chamber
- Common partner part for high-speed gear sets and 11.1V setups
- Supplied branded Rocket or SHS depending on stock
Compatibility
Sector gear delay chips are designed for the sector gears found in standard AEG gearboxes. Check that your sector gear has a slot or mount for a delay chip, and that the chip suits your gear set, before ordering. If you are unsure, ask us or your airsoft technician.
Care and maintenance
Fitting requires the gearbox to be opened, so it is a job for someone with AEG technical experience. When reassembling, check the chip is firmly seated, re-shim the gears if necessary, and lightly grease the gears. Test fire on semi first, then on full auto, to confirm reliable feeding.
Who is it for?
Airsoft techs and experienced players building high rate of fire AEGs who want reliable feeding at speed.
Please note: Fitting requires gearbox disassembly and should be carried out by someone with AEG technical experience.
