Description

Snow Wolf AEG AUG (Short – Black – SW020T)

The Snow Wolf AUG (SW020T) is a short-barrelled electric airsoft rifle based on the famous Steyr AUG bullpup, finished in black. In a bullpup the gearbox and magazine sit behind the trigger, so you get a long inner barrel in a much shorter overall package, and this short version makes the most of that for close-quarters play.

Snow Wolf produces a wide range of affordable AUG replicas, and the AUG’s futuristic one-piece stock and distinctive outline make it a favourite with players who want something different from the usual M4. The black finish is the classic choice and works with almost any loadout, from police-style kit to woodland camouflage. It suits CQB players, newer players looking for a compact first rifle, and anyone who likes the AUG’s classic science-fiction looks.

The bullpup advantage

Because the action sits in the stock, a bullpup is noticeably shorter than a conventional rifle with the same barrel length. That makes the AUG quick to manoeuvre through doorways and around cover, while the weight sitting back towards your shoulder makes it comfortable to hold up for long periods.

The short version takes this further, giving you a very compact rifle that suits CQB sites, vehicles and tight woodland, where a long barrel tends to catch on everything.

Handling

The AUG’s integrated grip and enclosed trigger guard give a secure hold, and magazine changes are made behind the grip, which takes a little practice if you are used to an M4. UK retailer listings for Snow Wolf’s railed AUG describe a two-stage trigger (a half pull for semi-auto and a full pull for full-auto), which is typical of the AUG design; please check the manual for this version.

Snow Wolf AUGs are listed with the battery housed in the stock, reached by removing the butt plate. Check the space available before buying a battery. Please see the product photos for the sights or optic fitted to this short version.

Getting started

Fully charge a suitable battery before first use, then fit it as described in the manual and connect it carefully. Load a magazine, wind it if it is a high-capacity type, and start with the hop-up turned off. Fire a few shots at a safe target and add hop a little at a time until BBs fly flat without rising at the end of their flight.

Have the rifle chronographed at your site before you play, and keep a note of the hop setting that suits your favourite BB weight so you can return to it quickly.

Key features

  • Snow Wolf AUG-pattern bullpup electric rifle
  • Short-barrelled version for CQB
  • Compact bullpup layout
  • Weight sits back towards the shoulder
  • Distinctive one-piece stock
  • Battery housed in the stock (as listed for Snow Wolf AUGs)
  • Colour: Black

Compatibility

AUG-pattern AEGs take AUG-style AEG magazines. Fit varies a little between brands, so test a spare before buying several, and Snow Wolf magazines are the safest choice. Use good-quality 6mm seamless BBs; 0.20g to 0.25g suits most players.

Battery space in the stock is limited, so check the size and connector against the manual before buying a battery, and check your replica’s model before ordering internal parts.

Care and maintenance

Take the battery out after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, rather than leaving it connected inside the replica. Charge LiPo batteries with a proper balance charger, keep them in a LiPo-safe bag and never leave them charging unattended; NiMH packs should be charged with a smart charger that stops when the pack is full.

Run a cleaning rod with a lightly dampened patch through the inner barrel from time to time to clear dirt and residue, which keeps the hop-up consistent. Use good-quality seamless BBs, never reuse BBs that have been on the ground, and wipe the outside over after damp or muddy games. Leave gearbox work, shimming and spring changes to a competent technician.

Bullpups put the magazine and gearbox near your face, so keep the magazine well and stock area free from mud and grit, and wipe the rifle over after damp games.

Who is it for?

The short Snow Wolf AUG is for players who want a compact, distinctive bullpup for CQB and woodland, from newer players buying a first rifle to experienced players adding an AUG to the collection. Black is the most versatile finish for any loadout.

Please note: A battery, charger and BBs are not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
