The SOC-AR is an airsoft replica of the SOC-AR rifle designed by Otto Repa, produced by ARES under licence. It is a bullpup design, so the magazine and mechanism sit behind the pistol grip. That gives you a long inner barrel in a compact overall length, which is exactly what you want for a designated marksman or sniper-support role.
With its angular, futuristic styling the SOC-AR looks like nothing else on the field. It is built mainly from metal, with durable polymer parts, and it comes with an integrated laser aiming module and a long top rail for optics. It is a semi-automatic rifle, designed to reward careful, deliberate shooting rather than volume of fire.
Build and design
The bullpup layout keeps the overall length to around 740mm while still housing an inner barrel of around 480mm, so you get the benefits of a long barrel without a long rifle. The body is metal, with much of it machined aluminium, and the rifle weighs roughly 4kg, giving it a stable, planted feel when aiming. A Picatinny top rail runs along the top for a scope or red dot, and M-LOK compatible slots give room for further accessories. Heavier, high-quality BBs generally suit this type of rifle best.
Handling
Bullpups have a different balance to conventional rifles, with more of the weight sitting back towards the shoulder. Compatibility
The SOC-AR uses a proprietary gearbox, so internal parts are specific to this rifle rather than standard Version 2 or 3 parts. Standard Picatinny optics and mounts fit the top rail. Check that any spare magazine or battery is listed for the SOC-AR before ordering.
Care and maintenance
Remove the battery after play and store it separately. Clean the inner barrel periodically with a long cleaning rod and a soft patch; on a precision rifle a clean barrel and hop-up make a noticeable difference. Use good quality, seamless BBs. Switch off the laser module when not in use, and keep the rifle dry and clean before storing it.
