This is an S&T M203-style 40mm grenade launcher in the short, lightweight (LW) version, finished in tan. Under-barrel launchers add a powerful extra option to an M4 or M16-style rifle: a single 40mm shell can send a spread of BBs into a room or behind cover, which can change the course of a game in a moment.
The short length keeps the launcher compact under the handguard, so it adds capability without making the rifle unwieldy, and the lightweight version is designed to keep extra weight to a minimum. How a 40mm launcher works
An airsoft 40mm launcher fires BBs from a separate shell (often called a Moscart or 40mm gas grenade). You fill the shell with BBs and gas, load it into the launcher’s breech, close it and pull the trigger. The shell releases its gas in one go, sending a spread of BBs downrange, which is particularly effective for clearing a doorway, a room or a group of opponents behind cover.
The shell itself stays in the launcher and is removed and refilled afterwards, so it is worth carrying several pre-filled shells in pouches. Each shell type has its own capacity and gas requirements, so always follow the instructions supplied with the shells you choose.
Short and lightweight
The short barrel version is the better choice for most players, as it suits carbine-length rifles and keeps the front of the rifle balanced. The lightweight construction means less fatigue over a long day than an all-metal launcher, and the tan finish matches tan rifles and desert or contractor themed loadouts.
Practise loading and firing before game day so the sequence becomes second nature, and remember that most sites have specific rules about where and how 40mm launchers may be used.

Compatibility
Airsoft M203-style launchers take standard 40mm airsoft shells, which are sold separately; we stock a range of 40mm gas grenades. Check the shell manufacturer’s instructions for gas type and BB capacity.
Mounting methods vary between rifles and launcher versions, so please check with us that this launcher will fit your rifle before ordering. M203-style launchers are generally intended for M4/M16-pattern rifles.
Care and maintenance
Keep the launcher’s breech and barrel clean and free of grit, and wipe it down after games in mud or rain. Do not leave shells loaded in the launcher between games.
Look after your shells as you would gas magazines: use the gas recommended by the shell maker, put a drop of silicone oil on the fill valve now and then, never overfill, and store shells somewhere cool and dry with only a little gas in them.
