Description

S&T/Snow Wolf KAR98K Spring Sniper Rifle (Faux Wood)

This is a spring-powered bolt-action replica of the Kar98k, the German service rifle of the Second World War, with a polymer faux wood stock and handguard. It brings one of the most famous bolt-action rifles of all time to airsoft at an accessible price, with a straightforward spring action that needs no gas or battery.

The Kar98k is a favourite for WWII reenactment and themed games, and this version offers authentic lines and finish with a stock that is sturdy and water-resistant. It suits reenactors, collectors and anyone who wants a classic rifle for marksman roles or target shooting.

Build and handling

The stock and handguard are made of polymer with a faux wood finish, which keeps the authentic look while shrugging off damp weather better than real wood. Metal parts are finished to resemble the original rifle, and the overall length of about 1090mm and weight of about 2.62kg give it a convincing presence.

The tangent rear sight and barleycorn front sight follow the original pattern, there is a scope mounting plate, and two sling points let you carry it on a period-style sling. The cleaning rod under the barrel is a dummy for display; a separate working rod is supplied for clearing the barrel.

How it works

This is a spring-powered bolt action: working the bolt compresses the spring, and the trigger releases it for a single shot. The rifle fires from a spring-loaded magazine of about 25 rounds, and spare magazines are available separately.

The 600mm, 6.03mm inner barrel gives good consistency, and the hop-up is adjusted with a grub key located under the rear sight, keeping the external look of the rifle clean. A 0.25g BB is a good starting point.

Getting started

Read the manual so you know how the safety and loading work. Load the magazine, cycle the bolt fully and fire a few shots at a safe backstop with the hop-up off, then add hop a little at a time until the BBs fly flat at your usual engagement distance. If you fit an optic, zero it once the hop is set.

Keep a note of the hop setting that suits your chosen BB weight, and have the rifle chronographed at your site before play, as many sites apply different rules and minimum engagement distances to bolt-action rifles.

Compatibility

Use spare magazines made for this rifle; please check with us before ordering, as Kar98k magazines differ between makers. The scope mounting plate allows a period-style scope mount to be fitted; check that any mount is listed for this rifle. A 0.25g BB is a good starting point for the hop-up.

Care and maintenance

Always uncock the rifle before storing it, so the spring is not held under tension. Keep dry firing to a minimum, and run a cleaning rod with a patch through the inner barrel every few games to keep shots consistent.

Use quality seamless BBs of a consistent weight, which matters more for a sniper rifle than for almost any other replica. Wipe the rifle dry after wet or muddy games, and check any scope mounts and stock screws regularly so your zero holds.

Who is it for?

This Kar98k suits WWII reenactors and themed-game players, collectors who want a classic bolt-action rifle, and anyone who enjoys the deliberate pace of a spring sniper rifle.

Please note: BBs and scope are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection and check your site’s rules for bolt-action rifles before play.
