Description
S&T Type 64 – Black/Wood
The S&T Type 64 is an electric replica (AEG) of the Howa Type 64, the Japanese battle rifle used by the Japan Self-Defence Forces and the Japan Coast Guard. The real rifle was never exported, so it is rarely seen outside Japan, and this replica gives players and collectors the chance to own one of the more unusual service rifles of the Cold War era. This version is finished in black with wood furniture.
S&T is known for bringing less common military rifles to airsoft at a reasonable price. The Type 64 is a long, distinctive rifle with a folding bipod and flip-up sights, which makes it a natural fit for a support or marksman role as well as a striking addition to any collection.
Build and materials
We also stock the S&T Type 64 AEG support rifle, which is listed with a full metal body and a stamped metal receiver, like the original, giving a rigid feel. The wood furniture on this version adds warmth and authenticity to the classic lines. With a listed length of about 1003mm and a weight of around 3.4kg, it is a full-size rifle with real presence.
An integrated bipod folds up under the handguard when you are moving and swings down quickly when you settle into a position, and the flip-up front and rear sights fold away to protect them when not in use.
Performance and internals
The Type 64 uses its own proprietary full metal gearbox, built around the rifle’s layout, with a short-type motor and a quick-change spring guide so the spring can be swapped to suit different site limits. The inner barrel is listed at around 500mm, and the hop-up is adjustable.
Fire modes are safe, semi and full auto. The high-capacity magazine is listed at around 450 rounds, which suits the support role.
On the field
The length and bipod make the Type 64 best suited to outdoor sites where you can take up a position and cover an area. Rest it on the bipod over a bank or wall and use semi-auto for careful shots, or full auto to suppress. The muzzle has a 14mm negative thread for a tracer unit or mock suppressor.

The 14mm negative thread accepts standard airsoft tracers and mock suppressors.
Care and maintenance
Remove the battery after every game and store it separately at a sensible storage charge, and never leave a battery charging unattended. Run a cleaning rod with a soft patch through the inner barrel every few games, and use good quality seamless BBs to prevent jams.
Treat the wood furniture with a little suitable wood care product now and then and do not leave it wet. Keep the bipod hinges clean and lightly oiled so the legs deploy smoothly, and store the rifle in a padded bag away from damp.
Who is it for?
The Type 64 suits support gunners, players who enjoy unusual and historically interesting rifles, and collectors of Japanese and Cold War era military arms.
Please note: Battery and charger are not included. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and check your site’s power limits before play.
