Design and build
The MTR16 is built from aluminium and polymer, with a full-length M-LOK handguard that keeps the front end slim while giving plenty of space for lights, grips and other accessories. The muzzle has a 14mm negative (counter-clockwise) thread for a suppressor or tracer unit.
The black finish keeps the look clean and practical.
How it works
The rifle runs on green gas held in the magazine. Each shot drives the bolt carrier back and forward for a sharp kick and the sound of a real action. It uses Tokyo Marui’s Z-System, introduced to improve gas efficiency and durability. Fire modes are safe, semi and full auto, and the hop-up is adjustable.
Gas rifles are more sensitive to temperature than AEGs. They perform best in mild and warm weather, and efficiency drops on cold days, so keep magazines warm before use in winter.
On the field
Controls and reloads follow the M4 pattern, so drills learnt on an electric M4 carry straight over. The MTR16 is equally comfortable in CQB and woodland, and rewards players who enjoy a realistic, hands-on shooting experience.
Getting started
Fill the magazine with the correct gas, holding the can upright and filling in short bursts. Let the magazine settle for a minute, load your BBs and fire a few test shots with the hop-up off, then add hop gradually until the BBs fly flat.
Get the replica chronographed at your site before play. In cold weather, keep spare magazines warm in an inside pocket for the most consistent performance.

Compatibility
The MTR16 belongs to Tokyo Marui’s M4 gas blowback (MWS) family and takes Tokyo Marui MWS-type gas magazines; check that any magazine is listed for the MWS or MTR16. M-LOK accessories fit the handguard and the 14mm CCW thread suits standard airsoft suppressors and tracers.
Care and maintenance
Put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine fill valve and seals regularly, fill in short bursts and store magazines with a little gas inside to keep the seals seated. Keep the bolt carrier lightly lubricated as Tokyo Marui recommends.
Avoid heavy use in very cold weather, which strains the seals, clean the inner barrel now and then and use good quality seamless BBs.
