Description

Tokyo Marui VSR-10G Pro Sniper Rifle (G-Spec – OD)

This is the Tokyo Marui VSR-10 G-Spec, the shorter, suppressed member of Marui’s VSR-10 family of spring-powered bolt-action sniper rifles, finished in OD (olive drab) green. The VSR-10 is one of the most important airsoft sniper platforms: accurate out of the box, simple to maintain and supported by an enormous range of upgrade parts.

The G-Spec takes the proven VSR-10 action and pairs it with a shorter barrel and a removable mock suppressor, which makes it handier in woodland than the full-length Pro Sniper. The OD finish blends naturally into green woodland and suits most temperate camouflage patterns.

Build and features

A Hong Kong retailer listing gives a length of 1,135mm (with the suppressor fitted) and a weight of about 2.1kg, with a plastic stock. Our listing for the blue version, based on a European retailer, gives 950mm without the suppressor and an inner barrel of 303mm.

The magazine holds 30 rounds and the hop-up is adjustable. The rifle has a Picatinny-type scope mount for an optic, and the Hong Kong listing also describes front and rear sights in the box, so you can shoot before fitting a scope.

How it works

Each shot is prepared by working the bolt, which compresses the spring and loads a BB from the magazine. Pulling the trigger releases the piston, and the air it drives fires the BB through the hop-up and down the inner barrel. Spring power is unaffected by temperature, so the VSR-10 performs the same in midwinter as in summer, with no gas or battery to run out.

Fit a scope to the mount, zero it at your usual engagement distance and practise your bolt work so follow-up shots are quick and smooth. Have the rifle chronographed at your site before play.

Compatibility

The VSR-10 has one of the widest ranges of aftermarket parts of any airsoft rifle, from springs, cylinders and triggers to hop-up chambers, barrels and stocks. When buying parts, check that they suit the G-Spec’s shorter barrel and are made for the Tokyo Marui VSR-10 rather than a clone. Spare magazines should be VSR-10 pattern.

Use standard scope rings to suit your optic, and heavier seamless BBs, around 0.28g and up, usually suit a sniper rifle’s hop-up best.

Care and maintenance

Avoid dry-firing the rifle without BBs, as the piston then strikes the cylinder head without any resistance, which adds wear. Store it uncocked so the spring is not left compressed, and keep it in a padded bag or case so the barrel and any optic stay aligned.

Clean the inner barrel now and then with a rod and a lightly dampened patch, use high-quality seamless BBs, and keep the magazine and feed area free from grit. A sniper rifle rewards consistent ammunition, so once you have found a BB weight that suits your hop-up setting, stick with it.

Who is it for?

The VSR-10 G-Spec suits players who want an accurate, dependable bolt-action rifle that works in all weathers, from newcomers to the sniper role to experienced players who want a compact, suppressed platform to build on. We also list the same rifle in blue.

Please note: A scope is not listed as included. Always wear suitable eye protection, and full-face protection where your site requires it, when using or testing any airsoft replica.
