Umarex H&K G3A3 Gas Blowback Rifle (Steel Pressed Body – OD)
The Umarex H&K G3A3 is a gas blowback replica of the Heckler & Koch G3A3, the classic German battle rifle that served with dozens of armed forces around the world. Made under licence from Heckler & Koch and produced by VFC for Umarex, this version has a steel pressed body and is listed in OD, giving it the look and feel of the real rifle.
The G3 is a true icon: long, heavy and purposeful, with the distinctive roller-delayed design and stamped steel receiver that HK made famous. A gas blowback version brings real recoil and a working bolt to that shape, making it one of the most satisfying rifles you can take to a milsim event or a historical game.
Build
The pressed steel body recreates the stamped construction of the original rifle, and combined with the OD colour scheme it gives a convincing, authentic appearance. At about 1,027mm long, it is a full-length battle rifle and handles like one: steady in the shoulder, with a real sense of weight behind each shot.
VFC is known for detailed, high-quality gas blowback rifles, and its HK range is among the most popular in airsoft.
Gas blowback action
Each shot cycles the bolt, giving recoil you can feel and a realistic sound. The rifle uses a 20-round gas magazine, which encourages careful, deliberate shooting and makes reloads part of the experience, just as they are with the real G3. VFC has added a last-round bolt hold-open, letting you know when the magazine is empty, and there is an option to enable dry firing.
As with any gas rifle, performance depends on temperature. In cold weather, keep spare magazines warm and expect fewer shots per fill.
Getting started
Fill the magazine with suitable airsoft gas following the manual, in short bursts, and let it settle. Load BBs, fire a few shots at a safe target and, following the manual, set the hop-up so that BBs fly flat. Practise magazine changes and operating the cocking handle at home before your first game.
Have the rifle chronographed at your site before play, and check whether your site has particular rules for gas rifles.

Compatibility
Use magazines made for the Umarex/VFC G3 gas blowback series. AEG G3 magazines will not work in a gas blowback rifle. The gas type is set out in the manual; use only gas made for airsoft guns and never lighter fluid or butane. Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs.
Care and maintenance
Store magazines with a little gas in them to keep the seals healthy, and put a drop of silicone oil on the fill valve every few fills. Do not overfill, and let magazines warm to room temperature naturally in cold weather rather than heating them.
Wipe the bolt and moving parts with a thin film of silicone oil now and then, and keep the steel body dry and lightly oiled to protect the finish. Clean the inner barrel with a rod and patch, and have any internal servicing carried out by someone experienced with gas rifles.
