Description

Umarex T4E HDP .50 Caliber Paintball Pistol (7.5j – With Pistol Case and 100 Rubber Balls)

The Umarex T4E HDP is a compact .50 calibre pistol-style marker rated at 7.5 joules. It fires .50 calibre rubber balls and paintballs, and this package includes a pistol case and 100 rubber balls, so the only thing you need to add is CO2.

The HDP is part of Umarex’s T4E (Training for Engagement) range and has since been offered under the name TP 50. It is a straightforward, robust pistol that is easy to learn and easy to maintain, making it a popular choice for target practice and training.

Build and design

The frame is made from a matt polymer that resists weather, corrosion and knocks, so the pistol shrugs off the kind of handling that comes with regular use. A Picatinny accessory rail under the front of the frame lets you fit a compact torch or laser. It weighs around 682g and is about 213mm long, so it sits comfortably in the hand and in a holster-sized case.

How it works

Power comes from a single 12g CO2 capsule housed in the grip, and the integrated magazine holds six rounds. Umarex quote around 30 shots from each capsule, so a box of capsules goes a long way. As with any CO2 product, performance drops in very cold weather, so keep capsules warm in winter.

The six-round capacity encourages deliberate, aimed shots, which makes it a useful tool for practising accuracy and trigger control.

Getting started

Fit a fresh 12g capsule in the grip, load the six-round magazine and make sure the pistol is pointed in a safe direction before you begin. Start with slow, aimed shots at a target with a safe backstop to learn where the pistol shoots, then build up to faster follow-up shots and reloads. Because the supplied case holds the pistol securely, it is easy to keep the kit together between sessions.

Ammunition

Using .50 calibre rubber balls means there is no mess and the rounds can be collected and reused after inspection. Paintballs give a clear visible mark on targets.

Compatibility

Uses 12g CO2 capsules and .50 calibre ammunition, including Umarex T4E .50 rubber balls (available as a bottle of 500 or two bottles of 250). It does not take .68 calibre rounds or 6mm BBs. The rail accepts Picatinny-mount torches and lasers.

Care and maintenance

Remove the CO2 capsule after each session so the seals are not left under pressure, and add a drop of silicone oil to the tip of each new capsule. Keep ammunition clean and dry, and clean the barrel if a paintball breaks. Wipe the pistol down after use and store it unloaded in its case in a cool, dry place.

Who is it for?

The HDP suits shooters who want a compact, easy-to-maintain marker for target practice and training, and anyone starting out with the T4E system who wants a complete package.

Please note: CO2 capsules are sold separately. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and only shoot where it is safe and permitted.
