This is a WE replacement magazine lips and gas router set for the WE L85 gas blowback rifle (GBBR), listed as parts 164 and 165. WE is a Taiwanese manufacturer well known for its gas blowback pistols and rifles, and its L85 GBBR is a gas blowback replica of the British service rifle.
Gas blowback rifle magazines work hard. Every shot sends gas out through the top of the magazine and every BB is pushed past the feed lips, so these are among the first parts to wear, especially when magazines are dropped. Fitting fresh parts is a cheap way to restore reliable feeding and good gas efficiency to an L85 magazine.
What the parts do
The magazine lips (feed lips) hold the top BB in exactly the right place for the bolt to strip it and push it into the chamber. Worn or cracked lips lead to double-feeds, misfeeds or BBs spilling out of the magazine. The gas router is the part at the top of the magazine that directs gas from the outlet valve into the rifle. If it is worn or damaged, gas leaks at the join, giving weak blowback and inconsistent shots. Replacing both parts together refreshes the whole top of the magazine.
Fitting
Always empty the magazine of all gas and BBs before working on it. Remove the old parts carefully, noting how they sit, and fit the new ones in the same orientation. Check that the follower moves freely and that a BB sits correctly in the lips, then gas the magazine and check for leaks before using it in a game.

Care and maintenance
Apply a drop of silicone oil to the magazine seals every few games and store magazines with a little gas in them to keep seals supple. Do not overfill, avoid dropping loaded magazines on hard ground, and use clean, seamless BBs.
