Description
WE M9A1 (Full Metal – Tan)
The WE M9A1 is a full metal gas blowback pistol in tan, based on the M9A1, the railed version of the US military’s long-serving M9 service pistol. The M9A1 added an accessory rail under the dust cover and a few practical refinements to the classic 92-series design, and it remains one of the most recognisable sidearms in the world.
WE (WE-Tech) is a Taiwanese manufacturer and one of the best-known names in gas blowback pistols. Its replicas are widely used as sidearms on UK skirmish sites, with good spare parts support and a reputation for strong, lively blowback. This tan M9A1 gives you a full-size, all-metal sidearm with real weight and presence, finished in a desert tone that suits coyote, multicam and other earth-tone loadouts.
Build and materials
The slide and frame are metal, so the pistol has a solid, rigid feel with none of the creaks of a plastic replica. At around 1.14kg it has a reassuring heft that helps steady your aim and soak up the recoil impulse of the blowback action. The open-top slide, exposed barrel and long, elegant profile are faithful to the 92-series design, and the tan finish sets it apart from the usual black pistols on a skirmish site.
The M9A1’s defining feature is the accessory rail under the dust cover, which lets you fit a pistol torch or laser for indoor sites, dark buildings and night games. The controls are ambidextrous, so left- and right-handed shooters can operate the pistol comfortably.
How it works
The WE M9A1 is a gas blowback pistol. Gas is filled into the magazine, and each pull of the trigger releases a measured amount to fire the BB and drive the slide back. The moving slide gives a real kick in the hand, cocks the action for the next shot and, on most models, locks back when the magazine runs dry, so you build the same reloading habits you would with a real pistol.
Like every gas pistol, its performance depends on temperature. Gas pistols cycle crisply on warm days; in the cold, pressure drops, so keep a spare magazine in an inside pocket and pace your shots during rapid strings so the magazine has a moment to recover. Good quality BBs of a consistent weight give the flattest, most repeatable flight.
Performance and handling
Inside is a 108mm inner barrel with an adjustable hop-up, so you can tune the backspin to suit your choice of BB weight and get a flat, consistent trajectory. The magazine holds 25 rounds, which is a generous load for a full-size pistol and means fewer reloads in a busy firefight.
The M9A1 has a long sight radius and a full-size grip that fills most adult hands. That size helps with accuracy and recoil control, and the weight of the metal build keeps the muzzle steady between shots.

Compatibility
Use WE M9/M92-series gas magazines; please ask us before buying spares from other makers, as fit varies. Fires standard 6mm BBs; 0.20g to 0.25g BBs suit most gas pistols.
The rail takes standard pistol lights and lasers. Holsters made for M9/92-series pistols should fit, but railed models with a light fitted may need a dedicated holster. Use only gas made for airsoft guns; never use lighter fluid or butane.
Care and maintenance
Gas blowback pistols reward a little regular attention. After a day’s play, wipe the slide, frame and magazine down with a lightly oiled cloth to remove dust and moisture, and run a cleaning rod with a clean patch through the inner barrel every so often to keep accuracy consistent. Use only gas made for airsoft, and put a drop of silicone oil on the magazine fill valve and outlet seal from time to time to keep them supple and leak-free.
Don’t overfill the magazine; a short, steady fill is enough, and you will hear and see when it is full. For storage, leave a small amount of gas in the magazine to keep the seals pressurised, store the pistol and magazines at room temperature, and avoid leaving them in a cold car or direct sun. In cold weather keep spare magazines warm in a pocket, as gas pressure drops noticeably as temperature falls. Use good quality seamless 6mm BBs, as cheap or misshapen BBs are the most common cause of jams and hop-up wear.
Who is it for?
