WE – WE-17S-67 – Magazine Base Plate
This is a replacement magazine base plate for WE’s 17 Series gas pistols, part WE-17S-67. WE’s 17 Series is one of the most popular gas blowback pistol platforms in airsoft, so a spare base plate is a useful thing to have in a kit bag.
The base plate closes off the bottom of the magazine and takes most of the knocks when a magazine is dropped or slammed into the grip. A cracked or lost base plate puts the whole magazine out of action, so a replacement is a cheap way to get it back into play.
Why replace a base plate
Magazines often hit the ground during fast reloads, and the base plate is the first part to take the hit. A damaged plate may not hold the magazine securely together, may catch on pouches and holsters, or may simply look tired. Fitting a new one restores the magazine’s shape and fit.
A spare is also handy if you strip magazines for cleaning and lose the base plate, or if you want to swap a worn one before a big game.
Fitting
Empty the magazine of gas and BBs first. Base plates usually slide off once a locking catch or pin is pressed, so check how your magazine’s plate is retained before applying force. Slide the new plate on until it is fully seated and locked, and check it is secure before refilling.

Care and maintenance
Keep magazines clean and avoid dropping them loaded onto concrete or other hard ground. A drop of silicone oil on the fill valve every few fills helps the seals stay supple.
Store magazines with a little gas in them and away from heat. Clean off any grit around the top of the magazine before loading BBs, as dirt can stop the lips holding BBs properly.
