Description
WE XM177 Gas Blowback Rifle (Full Metal – Black – WE-R-M007)
The WE XM177 is a full metal gas blowback airsoft rifle in black, model code WE-R-M007. It recreates the short-barrelled carbine of the Vietnam era, the compact ancestor of today’s M4, with its slim handguard, long flash suppressor and fixed carry handle styling. For players who enjoy classic and historical loadouts, it is one of the most recognisable shapes in the AR family.
WE is one of the best-known names in gas blowback rifles, and its AR-pattern GBBs are widely supported with magazines and spare parts. The XM177 brings that system to a retro profile, so you get the realism of a gas rifle in a package that suits both modern skirmishing and themed events.
Build and materials
As the name says, this is a full metal rifle. The metal receiver and furniture components give it a reassuring weight and rigidity, and it feels far closer to the real thing in the hands than a polymer-bodied replica. The black finish is plain and period-appropriate, which is exactly what you want for a Vietnam-era or Cold War impression.
The short overall length makes the XM177 easy to carry through woodland and around buildings, and it stows readily in a vehicle or rifle bag.
Gas blowback operation
On each shot, gas from the magazine drives the BB and also pushes the bolt carrier back, so the rifle cycles with a noticeable kick and the sound of a working action. Loading, charging and clearing the rifle follow the same manual of arms as the original design, which makes it excellent for drill practice and for players who want their kit to behave authentically.
Gas rifles do have different habits from AEGs. Performance depends on temperature, so the rifle is at its best in mild and warm weather, and you will need to carry a few filled magazines rather than one large one. Many players find that this encourages careful, aimed shooting.
Handling and use
The compact XM177 points quickly and is well balanced for snap shots in close quarters. Its slim profile is comfortable for players of all sizes. Because it is a gas rifle, the first time you fire it is a good moment to set the hop-up: start with it off, then add a little at a time until BBs fly flat at your usual engagement range.
Key features
- Gas blowback rifle with working bolt carrier
- Full metal construction
- Classic XM177 short carbine styling
- Black finish suited to historical loadouts
- Compact length for CQB and woodland
- Realistic manual of arms for drills
- From WE, a well-known GBB maker
Compatibility
The XM177 runs on WE gas magazines for its AR-pattern GBB rifles. Magazines from other brands are not always interchangeable, so check before buying spares. It takes standard 6mm BBs; good-quality seamless BBs of a sensible weight give the most consistent results. Use the gas recommended for the rifle and avoid stronger gases unless you know the rifle is set up for them.
Care and maintenance
Keep magazines stored with a small amount of gas in them so the seals stay seated, and add a drop of silicone oil to the fill valve and lips from time to time. Fill magazines in short bursts with the can upright, and let them settle before use.
After a game, wipe down the exterior and check the bolt carrier and buffer area for dirt. A light film of silicone oil on the moving parts keeps the action smooth. Clean the inner barrel with a cleaning rod and soft cloth when accuracy drops off, and store the rifle somewhere dry.
Who is it for?
Players who want the realism of a gas blowback rifle in a classic short-carbine form, reenactors building Vietnam-era kit, and collectors of AR-pattern replicas.
Please note: Gas and BBs are not included. Performance of gas rifles drops in cold weather. Always wear suitable eye protection when using airsoft replicas.
