Design and handling

How it works
Pulling the bolt back compresses the main spring and pushing it forward chambers a BB. The trigger then releases the piston to fire a single shot. Because the power comes from the spring, there is nothing to charge and performance is unaffected by cold weather.
Take time to set the hop-up for your chosen BB weight and zero your scope at the range before your first game. Heavier BBs, once the hop-up is set, tend to be more stable at range.
Upgrading
Well L96-type rifles have a large aftermarket of upgrade parts, from hop-up rubbers and inner barrels to springs and trigger parts. Care and maintenance
Avoid dry-firing the rifle without BBs, as the piston then strikes the cylinder head without any resistance, which adds wear. Store it uncocked so the spring is not left compressed, and keep it in a padded bag or case so the barrel and any optic stay aligned.
Clean the inner barrel now and then with a rod and a lightly dampened patch, use high-quality seamless BBs, and keep the magazine and feed area free from grit. A sniper rifle rewards consistent ammunition, so once you have found a BB weight that suits your hop-up setting, stick with it.
Check the stock hinge and its locking catch before each game, and keep the hinge free of grit.
