Description
Well Scorpion R2 AEP (Black)
The Well Scorpion R2 is an electric airsoft replica of the Czech Skorpion vz. 61, the compact machine pistol that has become one of the most recognisable small arms of the Cold War era. It is an AEP, or automatic electric pistol: a small battery-powered mechanism in a pistol-sized package, so it runs without gas and behaves the same on a cold morning as on a warm afternoon.
Well is a long-established maker of affordable replicas, and the R2 is a popular way to get a Skorpion into your kit bag without the expense of a high-end version. It works as a compact CQB primary for smaller players, as a characterful sidearm, or as a fun addition to a Cold War or Eastern Bloc loadout.
Design and build
The R2 follows the slim, boxy lines of the original vz. 61, with the magazine ahead of the trigger guard and a folding wire stock that swings over the top of the receiver. With the stock folded it is about the size of a large pistol; unfold it and you have a small carbine that is much easier to hold steady when you aim.
Retailer listings for the R2 describe a metal lower receiver and metal wire stock, with an overall length of around 500mm, adjustable sights and a short 20mm rail under the barrel for a small torch or laser.
Performance and internals
Inside is Well’s mini-type gearbox, designed for compact electric guns. The hop-up is adjustable, so you can tune BB lift for the weight you use. Being electric, it is ideal for indoor sites and CQB, where its compact size and quick handling count for more than outright range.
The magazine sits in front of the trigger guard, in the style of the original. Spare magazines are worth carrying, as the standard magazine is fairly small.
Battery and set-up
The R2 runs on a small 7.2V micro-type battery that fits inside the gun, a format specific to this style of compact electric pistol. Make sure any spare battery you buy is the right size and connector for the R2 before ordering, as larger packs will not fit without modification.

Compatibility
Use magazines made for Skorpion-pattern AEPs; many are shared between Well, JG and similar R2 / vz. 61 replicas, but check the listing before buying spares.
Use only a battery listed for this type of compact electric pistol. Recommended BB weights are 0.20g or 0.25g; very light 0.12g BBs are best avoided, as they can wear the hop-up and barrel.
Care and maintenance
Unplug the battery when you have finished playing and store it out of the gun. Small battery packs drain quickly if left connected, and should only be charged with a suitable charger and never left charging unattended.
Run a cleaning rod with a soft patch through the inner barrel from time to time, and use good quality seamless 6mm BBs. Compact electric guns have small hop-up units that are easily upset by poor ammunition.
Keep the gun dry and wipe off dust and moisture after use. If the rate of fire drops noticeably with a fresh battery, have the gun checked by a technician rather than forcing it.
Who is it for?
The Scorpion R2 suits CQB players, smaller-framed players who want a light, easy-handling gun, and anyone building a Cold War or Eastern European themed loadout. It also makes a fun, low-maintenance backup to a rifle.
Please note: Please check the listing or ask us before ordering if you need to know whether a battery and charger are supplied. Always wear suitable eye and face protection, and check your site’s power limits before play.
